Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens

I would expect nothing less, Morph! This winter has been unusually on and off here in NE Indiana as well. Coupla days with highs in the teens, coupla days pushing 70, like this week. Too bad we closed our golf courses after Veterans' Day.

Re: Potential Serrenade replacement?

Glad I ran across this thread. Nice to find a direct replacement for Serenade (same strain of bacillus subtilis: QST713). I don't know if the labeled diseases are all-inclusive, but looking at what QST713 treats, rust and powdery mildew, I think that I am wasting time and money if that is the case....

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens

Thanks, Green! I hope that this is in keeping with the intent of this thread:I did the aggressive approach for two seasons, and both years had an issue with ensuring that the last application of urea got watered in. Irrigation system had long been winterized, and November precipitation for both year...

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens

Quick comment: I went with the modified standard approach of putting down a slow release fertilizer early and calling it a season. Using Menards-gonite, which, acccording to it's label, has 87.5% of its nitrogen as water insoluble, I applied 1.15 pounds of nitrogen (effectively a pound of slow-relea...

Re: Sprayer Recommendations

This may be a little more than you want but I have a Chapin "mix on exit" 25-gallon sprayer that mounts on my tractor. Here is a trailer version, if you have a tractor to tow it. It works well for my hilly property since you keep the solution and water separate. https://chapinmfg.com/products/chapi...

Sprayer Recommendations

Hey all, My Earthway S15 walk-behind sprayer finally bit the dust. I think that the pump seized, Earthway no longer makes nor supports the S15, including parts and I have to face it; the sprayer has been a disappointment since day one, several years ago. Really hard to push, especially over my bumpy...

Re: Is this nimble will?

I'm no expert, but I am fighting a Bermudagrass infestation in one area of my back yard. One thing that may help choose if it is Bermuda or nimblewill, assuming that you are only choosing between the two: if it grows bunch-like and pulls up rather easily, it is likely nimblewill. If it grows along t...

I’m not suggesting this is your issue. Re: Non-Chinese Mower

2 month review of the Honda HRX: that machine is a beast! After a dry spring, we've more than caught up during the last few weeks. After a week in which we received 2.75" of rain, we got 3.25" last week. As the old-timers around here know, my back yard could host alligators after a couple of inches ...

Re: Oze Soil Test:May, 2021

Thank you, Andy. I don't know why they changed the sample depth to 6", maybe a typo. They used the same sample that I sent in for both tests. 4" is correct.

Haha, Morph!

Also, FWIW, the fizz test was negative. Barely a whisper 2" from my ear.

Re: Harrell's Polyon Fertilizer

Thanks, Andy. I've not heard of a temperature-release coating; pretty cool. The super said that, for our fairways, he drops this at 350 pounds( I think) per acre, just once a year. Oh, and this half a bag was an incredible bargain that I couldn't refuse. 8-)

Harrell's Polyon Fertilizer

Has anybody heard of/used this fertilizer? Apparently, the "polyon" coating is slow-release by temperature, and is water agnostic. The superintendent at the golf course where I work swears by it.

Re: Toro Mowers Availability

Yep. I searched high and low for a mower, with specific requirements in mind (see the non-Chinese mower thread). Nobody, and I mean on-line vendors, big-box stores nor local mom-and-pops had any quality residential walk-behind mowers in stock. Luckily, I was able to find a local shop that had *one* ...

Re: Oze Soil Test:May, 2021

The suspense was killing me, so I called Logan Labs and they are going to run the ammonium acetate test on the soil sample that I submitted, assuming that there is enough of the sample remaining to perform the AA test.

Re: Oze Soil Test:May, 2021

I do recall that part 2 is the gist of what the site said about a positive fizz test. Something about, yeah, you could lower your soil pH a bit, maybe in 10,000 years.
