Re: Soil temps hanging in there this year compared to last
Soil temps doing the same thing here and have been between 52 - 55 degrees since early Oct. They just keep holding steady here in MN and have extended my fall season out by 2 weeks later than last year. I can tell a big difference from this year to last and my grass still has a steady rate of growth...

Re: Urea Lock up Rate ?
If you apply one 50 lbs bag of Urea 46-0-0 over 13,000 sq ft you will be putting down 3.8 lbs/K of fertilizer which equals 1.75 lbs of N per 1,000 sq ft. One 50 lbs bag of Urea 46-0-0 contains 23 lbs of N. You need a total of 28.5 lbs of Urea 46-0-0 over 13,000 sq ft which would be 2.17 lbs/K of fer...

Re: chemeng First Soil Test
I would water very heavily in hopes of saving your lawn! Amounts/rates that high of the fertilizers that you just spread can be toxic. It is very important to follow directions when it comes to lawn care because accidents and mistakes can kill a lawn very quickly.

Re: Auto Detailing Applicators
I like the microfiber applicator pads better than foam pads, I think they do a much better job at polishing and finessing the paint surface when applying the sealant / wax. A DA polisher is not needed either unless you are working on a vehicle with older oxidized paint that is faded out and or scrat...

Re: chemeng First Soil Test
Welcome to the site. The soil crazies are working on your soil test and developing a plan for you. Stay tuned. Milo can be used anytime, keep in mind that organics process slower as the temps get colder. Light apps of Urea such as .5 lbs/K are good in the fall but do not apply at heavier rate of 1.0...

I wouldn't be concerned over those K numbers and as Barley stated earlier they are not a problem at those levels. Keep in mind that K in the nutrient that keeps the overall turf healthy so I would rather see higher levels. Remember the saying NPK = Up, Down, All Around.

Re: Mower deck lowered for winter
I have seen the same results with my lawn. I have been lowering the cutting height from 3" down to 2.25" over the last several weeks and the color lightened and yellowed a bit. Now I've been at 2.25 for the last week and the color has come back. I think it is because of the sun is reaching deeper to...

Re: This guy needs help! Rocky soil, lots of quackgrass.
I should also point out that I had the utilities marked this spring and everything criss-crosses over this patch of my yard, and I mean everything. So I'm not sure how safe scraping the top off and replacing it would be. You should be fine working on the top layers of your soil if you wish. All uti...

Re: Looking to make a switch...
Just curious as to your thought process on possibly switching over to KBG? I have always had KBG and been happy with it and know it's strengths and weaknesses. I don't know TTTF very well but I am in the early stages on planning a reno on the other 18,000 sq ft of my property which is currently a gr...

Re: DZ Logan Labs soil test
I would try and get a couple sprays of the BL Soil Conditioner & Kelp Help in yet this year. It is safe to apply every two weeks up until ground freeze. Two applications is probably all you will have time for this year and avoid spraying with cold ground temps and never after ground freeze. Begin th...
