Re: Organic Grains and Controlling Ants
We don't seem to have all the special critters that you folks in the south have. We have two types of ant: black and red. Neither have ever been a problem for me when using grains in my lawn. (TT -- who is still amazed that they have giant, flying Cockroaches in Florida.) Sent from my iOS device us...

Re: We actually hit 90 degrees today!
The upper midwest heat wave since last Saturday and now forecast to continue thru the end of this week really sucks. I just have to remember than in a month it will probably be below freezing. The extreme weather changes make it hard to adjust for fall lawn plans. Good reminder to go by the daily we...

Hello there Cincylawn. Best wishes for a successful upcoming overseeding project. Congrats on all your other hard work this season and you will no doubt be in great shape heading into next season with all your efforts this year. P and K are both short supply so lets address both those cations being ...

Re: Barley's "Buffer" Renovation 2013
I was looking at the reno area whole picture! I am concerned with the spruce trees, wood chips, current lawn at bottom edge of the picture which is awesome and also the soybeans.
I'll advise on the grass reno as soon as I see germination. What's taking so long??

Re: Barley's "Buffer" Renovation 2013
P.S. the soybeans are looking very good also. They sure are! I love their blue/green color. That's the color I want. Ya, when I did my reno I tried to pick nice dark cultivars that matched corn and soybeans. I'm starting to plan my reno for the rest of my property next summer and in the earl...

Good reminder Bernstem. With the upcoming heat wave that is hitting the upper midwest this coming week to make sure you keep the irrigation going often enough. Keep that irrigation cranked up and don't let your seed bed go dry. Keep everything moist.

Re: A dethatching story gone bad
Sorry to hear about the weed problems and I have been down this route also many years ago in my past when I core aerated and dethatched for a couple of years after a lawn service company sold told me that it is the "silver bullet" before I knew better and before I found Bestlawn/Around The Yard. The...

Re: Do I have a Thatch Problem? See Photos Within
+1 Gary. I have seen this mistake made many times over and over again by the same folks who think they are doing their lawns so much good. All they are doing is helping the weeds grow and establish very quickly and get a nice strong head start for many weed problems the following spring. Don't distu...

Re: Barley's "Buffer" Renovation 2013
I am going to go with wait until Aug 30th. If we can ever believe the weather forecast which I usually don't except lately they have been accurate here in MN and we are supposed to have 90's and upper 90's thru next week Thursday and then temps in the 80's after that. Our weather seems to move towar...

Re: Soil / Physical Analysis Report Interpretation Help
Hello MarcosJ, Good move and smart idea to wait on the lawn renovation as the window of time is rapidly closing in the north to get things done in time and have it be successful. The additional year will give you more knowledge and experience which is definately needed for a complete renovation. Ren...

Re: BL/ATY Headquarters Building
Nice picture and nice view from the office. It must be an interesting transition between going from the daily grind at work in the city back home to the Poa Plantation. I myself would prefer the quite remote home life rather than the rat race in NYC. When I visited NYC several years ago it was fun b...

Re: 2013 Soil Test, Atlanta GA
I would take the time to measure out 3 lbs from the 30 lbs bag and save that for your next application in 90 days and the same thought on the epsom salts. Take away 1 lbs of the epsom salts bag and save for later. The amounts that we recommend are safe and precise for your soil and we have tested th...

Hello DogFan and welcome to the forum. We are happy to have you here! The soil crazies all reviewed your soil sample test and have a game plan here for you. There are many positives with your soil and a few areas that we need to improve upon. Your P and K numbers look just fine and do not need any a...

That will actually be a nice mix and I think you'll be surprised when it gets established.mattya wrote:
They didn't have Bewitched so I went with an equal mix of Blueberry, Moonlight SLT and Prosperity.
I am probably biased though because I use those cultivars.

It looks like the project is progressing nicely. That driveway lane will be impressive when the project is completed. Lots of work but it's worth it.
P.S. the soybeans are looking very good also.

Re: Central Iowa Reno Help
Tenacity is worth it weight in gold. It can help slow down and kill off many weed issues and considering all the work and money spent on your reno already Tenacity is a small price to pay to help it be successful.
