Re: Tenacity vs. Tupersan (Siduron)
Benny's is an old fashion department store chain in SE Mass and RI, they had Scotts Starter with weed control (Mesotrione) on sale. I was going to get a bag for my sisters reno project, but decided Im better off spraying Tenacity manually.

Re: 2016: What did you do to or on your lawn today?
My Forsythia is half in bloom. Its been kind of slow to get going. I grabbed all the materials needed for my sisters reno. We were going to do it Saturday; but we have rain and snow off and mostly on for the next 5 days. Then rain after that. Hopefully I may get to do it Wednesday if the wx breaks, ...

Re: New to Lawn Care/Aeration
I thought I had compacted soil when I first started lurking here. It turns out my existing grass wasn't very good and I needed a reno or an over-seed. After following the excellent advice offered here my lawn is in great shape, my soil was not the problem. x2 to what others have said; get a soil tes...

Re: Looking Back: Fall Fertilization Regimen
I also followed the conservative fall fertilizer program; got like 4 weeks of 0.25#N with Urea, stopped at the avg first frost date, and then winterized when it stopped growing in December. Although the winter was so mild I have a feeling the grass still kept growing. The grass stayed green most of ...

Re: Is this granular weed product any good....
Thanks, makes sense. I didn't think of it like that.
What caught my attention was I thought it was a broadleaf pre-m at first, I have seen crab grass pre-m, but nothing for broad leaf weeds. But then again spot spraying 2,4-D has always worked fine as they pop up.

Is this granular weed product any good....
I saw this granular version of 2,4-D in the local hardware store today..... http://www.jonathangreen.com/product/lawn-weed-control.html http://s11.postimg.cc/gl7r2gzgv/lawn_weed_control_308x492.jpg Anyone have any opinion on how this works as compared to the version you mix and spray? There is not s...

Re: 2016: What did you do to or on your lawn today?
I got my first Forsythia buds in and some steady rain coming Monday, but I will be away until Monday morning. So I took a chance and put my Dimension down today. Put down at 3lbs per 1,000sf. Hopefully it will work ok if the rain doesn't come until Monday.

Re: Failed dormant overseed , next steps?
So if natural moisture takes care of the watering, does something like Tenacity help of hurt the new seedlings?
It will help with the weeds, but may harm the dormat seeds.
How can you tell if you are putting the Tenacity down at the right time.

Re: Failed dormant overseed , next steps?
I would hit it with Tenacity, wait 4 weeks and see.. if still no germination, then at that point you can hit it with your regular pre-m. If that was the case wouldn't you just be better off throwing some seed down, applying tenacity, and make sure it stays moist? i.e. just try another over-seed? I ...

Spring Grass Cutting Heights and Spreading...
I have a few areas from my Fall overseed of Northern Mix that I wish turned out better. I think I decided on just putting down my Pre-M and seeing what happens rather than try and fix anything. Worse case Ill address it in August. My last cut was at 2.5". I do plan on letting the grass grow longer t...

Re: 2016: What did you do to or on your lawn today?
Did a quick cut of the backyard, lowered the push mower to 2.5" but didnt cut much. The grass still seems to be dormat over here. We did get a lot of rain and it will be warming up next week, I figure Ill keep cutting at 2.5" to encourage tillering as it wakes up. I am figuring this weekend for my p...

Re: Prevailing wisdom on Tenacity for poa annua in spring?
I messed up my Tenacity application last year, so I am saving this thread for future reference. So if I have a typical PR/FF/KBG northern mix, am I correct in saying that I should be using the 2oz or 0.25 teaspoon/gallon rate? Perennial Rye is a lower rate than KBG, so I wouldn't blanket spray a PR ...

Re: 2016: What did you do to or on your lawn today?
The city did the street next to mine over last year. They Hydro-Seeded the hell strips in the middle of August. Maybe 1 out of 10 neighbors bothered to re-seed or even water them. Some didnt even bother cutting the weeds once they sprung up, one hell strip had weeds 3' high. I wish I would have take...

Re: Pre M before snow storm?
Its been a crazy spring. I was panning to seed my sisters backyard, then this forecast hit us. Thats all on hold. They are saying it might be rain down in the cape cod area; so I'm hoping there won't be any snow around, they are predicting 60's again next week. I figure next week I'll put down the p...

I never got the hang of that last year, it always seemed like I was trying to get seed to grow. This year I'll try stretch things out and try to learn when it needs water.

Triangle Approach.....
I was trying to explain to an uncle about the triangle approach. I sent them the link, but they still had a bunch of questions. Somebody once had a cool chart of the name brand herbicides with the product labels in a graphic arranged as a pyramid. I searched a few threads, but couldn't find it again...
