Re: 2016: What did you do to or on your lawn today?
I spread 2 yard of topsoil in a couple of low spots in the back yard. I then mulched the flower beds with a yard of mulch.
It rained the last 2.5 hours. We needed the rain bad so I will not complain.
I plan to nuke the back yard this weekend. More on that to come in a reno thread.

Re: Dark vs Triv
The summer heat did put a hurt on the triv. However by spring it was back in full force and continued to get worse. I notice what I think is triv in a lot of the lawns this time of year, but by mid summer it is all burnt to a crisp. I'm hopeful that most of mine stays that way. Here are the after Ve...

Re: Dark vs Triv
Sounds encouraging!! Question: How much granular velocity do you add to make a 1 gal solution to simply spot spray? JM My conversion is stolen from Oze since I don't have a scale that goes that low. 1/8 TEAspoon in 43oz of water cover 300sqft. 3/8 TEAspoon in 1 gallon covers 1000sqft. However I hav...

Re: Questions for those using Velocity
Green, I just posted a thread about my Velocity experience and schedule. I have TTTF so your mileage may vary. I see you have KBG, TTTF,TTPR, and FF listed so I'm not sure Velocity would work for you or not. The label says "Velocity SG Herbicide may cause significant injury to other turf species, es...

Dark vs Triv
The fall before I found this site I decided to overseed with a local garden center variety of Fescue. I am going to assume it was loaded with triv because after that fall I have watched several neon green patches grow and grow into a huge patch. It grows much faster and brighter than all of the othe...

Re: 2016: What did you do to or on your lawn today?
Triv is not doing well in my TTTF lawn thanks to Velocity! I misread (several times) the application frequency for TTTF so I have put down 2 blanket applications in 2 week at about 2oz/k each application. The last application was 4/20. It is supposed to only be applied every 21 days on Fescue lawns ...

Re: Man vs Wild (Poa trivialis)
wpor, thank you for continuing to update this thread. I started my battle on a huge continent of triv the other day in my TTTF lawn with Velocity. It is nice to see you have made some great progress. I hope to have the same success!

Re: 2016: What did you do to or on your lawn today?
Sprayed Velocity on every light green spot and continent in my yard. I am following the same slow conversion plan as Oze. I did some spot spraying last week in the back yard to make sure I wasn't going to damage my TTTF. So far so good.

Re: 2016: What did you do to or on your lawn today?
A balmy 34 degrees here in Fort Wayne. Applied SOP, MAP and another spot application of Velocity. By the way, I noticed that the Evil Poa Twins really pop out when I am wearing polarized sunglasses on a clear day like today. Touche', ya little bright green bastids! :duel: ^ :amen: I applied my firs...

Re: Darkcrisis Parents 2016 Soil Test
HoosierLawnGnome, Thank you for the write up. The yard is primarily TTTF but some common bermuda has mixed its way in and hanging out under the TTTF. I want to at least stop the Bermuda in its tracks and hopefully discourage it with Acclaim Extra and Triclopyr. I will be sure to drop gypsum at 30 lb...

Re: Darkcrisis 2016 Soil Test
This process has been a lot like exercise to me. If you continue to put in the hard work and do what experts tell you to do, you will see results. They may not happen as quickly as you would like, but you can see the progress. The more time that passes, the more hard work you put in, the better resu...

Darkcrisis Parents 2016 Soil Test
First of all I hope this is allowed. I feel guilty for asking for another interpretation during the busy season. Please feel free to tell me to pound sand (or soil.) I would appreciate to at least put the very bottom of the list! I have donated money to the site if that makes a difference, it makes ...

Re: Darkcrisis 2016 Soil Test
Andy, Thank you so much for your recommendations, I will be sure to follow them closely. The new interpretation layout this year is fantastic and easy to read and understand. It is nice to see that the hard work and dedication I put in last year is showing some results. I still have a long way to go...

Darkcrisis 2016 Soil Test
I’m coming back for more lawn fun! I spent a lot of time lurking and reading last year trying to understand all of the valuable information on this forum. I didn’t post very much because I didn’t have much to contribute as a newbie and got pretty good at using the search function for my questions. I...

Re: New to forum I started a Reno. What fertilizer brand?
Hoosier is dead on with his post. I am a newbie as well and have already seen a tremendous difference since finding this site last fall! Get the soil tested from Logan Labs and post the results in the soil section. The kind folks there will analyze your results and give you a full plan for your lawn...

Re: I am new, need advice on what to do.
I agree. with nclawnguy, start working the triangle approach and get a soil test stat. I started following the basic practices on this forum last fall and got a soil test done first thing this year. I have followed the recommendations from my soil test to a tee and I can't believe how different the ...

Revive Scalped Yard?
My parents closed on their new house today. The TTTF lawn has been really well maintained for years. On the previous owner's final mow, they scalped it :club: . It might not have been so bad but we have had little to no rain in the past 3 weeks and the previous owners had not been irrigating since t...

Re: Milorganite sale at true value for $6.99
Exactly what slash said. I just showed them the True Value add on my phone and they didn't ask questions. It did require manager approval on the register since I bought so many bags with the discount. It might have helped that they were extremely busy as the time.

Thank you for posting! HD price matched 12 bags. I may go back and get 12 more tomorrow.
I'm not sure the wife is going to like the smell of the garage
This is the only way I will be able to afford using milorganite for anything other than a carrier for the micros.
