Re: Are you up to the max height of cut for your lawn yet?
Thanks for the responses. I'll cut back lower on my next mow. It looks pretty patchy right now with high spots and low spots. With he patchiness, my lawn literally looks the worst in the neighborhood though I've put a ton of work into it

Re: Are you up to the max height of cut for your lawn yet?
What height do you typically start for your first mow. I recently did my first mow at 3.25", but only about 50% of the grass was tall enough to get cut. Should I start at lower height?

Apply serenade with fertigator /fertigation
I installed a fertigation system with my irrigation system last year and would like to take advantage of it wherever possible. Last year I ran BLSC and KH pretty much all year. This year I'm planning to run dissolved urea through it too. Normally I would not consider running any herbicides due to he...

Re: Philes Approach best practice for Kbg
An argument in favor of Milorganite or other compost based fertilizers is that plants need much more than N,P,K to be healthy. Plants need a complicated array of micro nutrients as well. Even though the micro nutrient volume need is much less, the relationship of micro nutrient to plant health is w...

Re: Where to buy Dimension and Urea Eastern Massachusetts
0.172% Dimension is stronger, so it'll last you even longer. I normally use 4 lbs/K of 0.15% (because it's what's available here) to last from now until seeding time. But with 0.172%, you'd only need 3.5 lbs/K to have the same effect and duration of coverage. You're also putting down less Potassium...

Re: Where to buy Dimension and Urea Eastern Massachusetts
There is a site one about 20 minutes from me (in Mashpee). Out of curiosity I called and asked them about the Dimension 0-0-7. They had Lesco brand in stock, but are asking $46 for 50lb bag (I never asked concentration). I played dumb and said I remember paying much less last year. He said their co...

Re: Where to buy Dimension and Urea Eastern Massachusetts
Thanks for the help everyone. I have a friend driving back from Northern NJ and on a whim called turf supply stores in that area. A distributor called "Aquarious Supply" carries Dimension for $21/50lb bag. I had her pick up 5 so that I wouldn't have to search again for at least 2-3 years https://i.p...

Re: Urea nitrogen fertilizer—apply now?
Yes, I think I took from about dozen different spots, mixed in a 5 ga paint bucket, and sent off 1-2 sites cups in double Ziploc bags in one of those one price small boxes at the post office (it was about $7). Used a cheap bulb planter to get soil at about 4" depth and then put the t remainder of th...

Re: Urea nitrogen fertilizer—apply now?
Yes, basically the same as Milorganite. Personally I would wait until they have in stock again and buy as large a quantity as your vehicle will carry. Its a big price difference. Milorganite runs $10-$15 for 36 lb bag while BSF is $3.50 for 40lb. For the 27 bags I bought last Feb, it would have cost...

Re: Urea nitrogen fertilizer—apply now?
That was what I understood to be Andy's recommendation for my lawn. I plan on giving it a shot this year. I bought my last batch of BSF in February because I wanted to beat the spring rush and not risk them being sold out like last year. I mentioned this to Carl (the guy who runs it over there) and ...

Re: Urea nitrogen fertilizer—apply now?
I also live on the cape and make the drive out to Quincy every so often. Andy made a suggestion while looking over my soil analysis of alternating BSF and urea applications. (Barnstable Farm and Pet will order urea for $20/bag). I'm going to go that route this year to cut back on my drives to Quincy...

Re: Sources for seed
The last batch of Tall Fescue I bought was Regenerate from Amazon of all places. It was under $140 for 50lb delivered. The same seed at SSS is $213. I tried finding local places to buy cheaper, but didn't have any success in my area. As an aside, the regenerate looks fantastic in my yard. You can te...

Re: Where to buy Dimension and Urea Eastern Massachusetts
I found a source local to me for Urea . Barnstable Farm & Pet in West Barnstable,Cape Cod, will order it for $19.99 per 50lb bag (46-0-0). Unfortunately they could not order the Dimension 0-0-7 unless I bought a pallet- Did not inquire on pricing.

Re: Spectrum's 2019 Soil test
Ok, I see. So you're recommending 1lb/k urea every 2-4 weeks, not 1lb/k nitrogen every 2-4 weeks, right?

Re: Spectrum's 2019 Soil test
Thanks so much Andy for your help. I apologize if it came across as bumping the thread, but I'm still to new to have the ability to edit the original post. I can only add things by making a new post. The soil OM, if real, is all in the added top soil. Underneath the topsoil its pretty much just sand...
