SA does not need or want much nitrogen. Use it sparingly if at all.

Re: I have some warm season lawn questions
If it were me I would stick with the cool season grass. Trying to take care of half an acre of Bermuda sounds like hell to me.
The TTTF and KBG might be dormant during summer but the Bermuda will be dormant during winter. What's the difference?

If you don't want to spend the money to sod properly, just use plugs.

Re: Plugging celebration Bermuda
Just wanted to show a preview of how aggressive celebration Bermuda is. I plugged this area last May and then moved out. Didn't fertilized, water or anything. Tenant just mowed it every 2 months or so. I can also vouch for this  http://[COMPLETELY MADE UP DOMAIN] image.com/SYvJeHo.jpg http://...

@Yossarian have you considered the shade problem those trees are going to create in the future?

It can look just as good with the same work put into it. The difference between common and sodded Bermuda isn't really as night and day as you might think.

Got a couple of damaged bags of Milo for half price at Lowes and threw it down heavy before the rain got here.
I love damaged goods.

Yup. It really took off this spring. It's still slowly trying to creep into the bare area towards the house where nothing wants to grow.Redtenchu wrote:Begotten wrote:Someone was curious how far apart the plugs were planted, it was about 3 or 4 feet.

Short of taking a sod cutter and removing the entire lawn, it can't be done.dirtwoodside wrote:How about the other way around; getting rid of the Bermuda and replacing it with the Fescue? I basically just want one type of grass in my front yard.

Re: Bermuda Height
I'm going to go out on a limb and say he probably said 3" on the assumption that the average homeowner who mows their own lawn probably only does it every 2 or 3 weeks, and by mowing it at that height it might reduce scalping. But there's also a chance he just doesn't know how Bermuda differs from o...

Sod, Sod, Sod..... You are more than likely gonna end up with a mess if you seed and probably not get the results you expected. Take all that in consideration, with the inferiority of bermuda seed and all, I see know reason you don't sod the area. There is a big drop off in quality when you compare...

Not feeding SA won't weaken it I'm sorry to tell you Years ago, when I moved to Bermuda house for the first time, I had no idea how much fertilizer it needed. Our SA was always happy with very little. You gotta fertilize the Bermuda for it to stand a chance. [ Post made via iPhone ] http://aroundth...

I would definitely go with plugs. I redid my front yard with plugs I bought online from a sod farm and it turned out great.
