Re: Blackberries
never planted any myself, but had a patch already established when we moved in our house. been trying to get rid of it for years, it comes up everywhere I guess due to the birds/squirrels.

Re: Shade grass to go with bermuda
mimosa are straight up weed trees, cut it down.
drawf mondo grass or saint augustine, may not blend well with the bermuda but it will work. Or just make a small bed around it pinestraw and line it with liriope.

Re: Back Blowers Comparison
I have the small husqvarna 125bt, it's on its 10th season. Been happy with it since day 1. I've certainly gotten my moneys worth out of it. I'm not an echo fan, I bought an echo edger and their carbs are some of the worst. Echo stuff always seems to be lighter than everyone elses, but I don't know i...

Re: Finally getting hydrangea blooms?
Depending on the severity of your winter, sometimes the buds can have winter damage and thus not flower the next year. It's hit or miss.
I'd wait to move it when it goes dormant this fall/winter. If its quite large, you maybe able to divide it and get another plant or so out of it at the same time.

Re: Shed construction
If you have room, double the size, so you don't regret not doing so several years down the road. Here's mine, started off as a simple 12x20 storage building that the previous owners had set dead in the middle of the backyard for some crazy reason. I finally had it moved by the Mennonites for a whopp...

Re: Weeding Pine Straw Beds?
weeds always find a way up through the pinestraw, it is what it is. Landscape fabric certainly does help, but if you keep topping off your pine straw year after year instead of raking out and installing new pinestraw, you'll get it under control. The only "weeds" I have issues in my pinestraw now is...

Re: Finally getting hydrangea blooms?
Yes, those will be flowers Most of the time when people speak of them not blooming, it is because of pruning the buds off the year before. If you are going to prune them, thin them out right after flowering. I leave mine alone, just prune the dead stalks every year if necessary. In your case, probab...

Re: 2016: What did you do on your lawn today?
This weekend I put down 390sqft of st augustine sod, already had the area plowed and raked out smooth so it went quick once I started. Planted a butterfly bush and salvia, put some nandina around the back porch, and I guess that's about it.

My previous boss had two daughters die in a car wreck a few years back. At the graveside service, there was a double rainbow over the cemetery. Coincidence?

I watched a guy a few months back do a drive way with straight water and one of those cheap craftsman surface cleaners on the end of his wand. It was unbelievable how clean he got that driveway. I'm picking one up soon, usually around 70 bucks at lowes.

http://www.commodities.caes.uga.edu/turfgrass/georgiaturf/WeedMngt/GrassWeed.html Sort of hard to say without it flowering/seeding out, a lot of them all look the same when cut low like that. I'm going to lean towards orchard, carpet, or goose grass. I get a clump of that here and there in my yard t...
