Overseed PRG lawn with KBG
My current lawn is PRG and i hate it....i feel like I'm overseeding all the time for various reasons. Can I overseed my lawn with something that spreads? I'm selling my house in a couple of years so don't want to do a full reno. My lawn in its current state is still better than anything in my neighb...

Preventing Snow Mold
My PRG lawn was hit very hard last year by snow mold, I live on a cul-de-sac and mounds of snow end up on my yard for long periods of time. Im guessing the height of my lawn was too long going into winter last year...maybe 3.5 inches. This fall I will cut my lawn down to 2.5 inches...I dont think I ...

Help with Fall plan
Hello, I purchased a bag of Urea 46-0-0 today and not sure how to apply it. I actually never knew Urea existed until yesterday, otherwise I would have followed Andy’s plan that he outlined back in September. Here is what I applied so far this fall to my PRG lawn: * September 1st: Lesco Starter (18-2...

Re: winterizing dilemma
I live in Southbury, CT and will be winterizing after 10 straight days of average outdoor temperatures in the 40's. In prior years this would fall a week or so before Thanksgiving.
Is this a good plan?

Re: When does Halts leave the soil
What did you seed with? Perennial Rye? I've tested and seen it blow right right through a 1 week old fully activated prodiamine barrier, it would seem odd that nearly 3 month old Halts could stop it. Did you do anything else (top dress, etc.)? Yep, perennial rye and I top dressed with peat moss lik...

When does Halts leave the soil
On June 1st I applied 2.2 lbs./1k of Halts to my lawn. Fast forward a few weeks and was hit hard by brown patch...several sections of my lawn never recovered. My Logan soil test results from last month came back as excellent. Last year I had a very successfull full lawn reno. Using my watering patte...

Re: Spreading Compost
I did it, get a 5 gallon bucket and a very good leaf blower. Drop the compost throughout the yard and spread with the leaf blower...still very time consuming, but worth it. Just make sure you have some cold beers waiting for you afterwards.

Re: CT Soil Test
Great, thank you very much! My soil was a disaster last year...I guess the compost, milorganite and coffee grind from Starbucks worked as advertised.

Re: What is happening!?!?
Halts does not prevent germination per si. What it does is effect the roots after germination, preventing establishment. Figure a full app of Halts to last up to 90 days. You eff'd up, but it's not the end of the world. Some will take, some you'll lose - you still have time to fix that. Will the st...

Re: What is happening!?!?
When people say they can pull out brown grass with no effort at all, I think of grubs as a possibility. [ Post made via Android ] http://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/images/mobile/Android.png Oh...forgot to mention I applied GrubEx in early May and soaked it in very well. Also, I didn't find one grub ...

What is happening!?!?
On June 1st applied Halts to get me through the summer crabgrass free. My application rate was 2.4/lbs./1,000. Due to the rainy and very humid June here in Connecticut, my beautiful perennial rye lawn was hit very hard by lawn disease. I'm not sure what disease effected my lawn, but it literally rot...

How to take a soil sample
I have a garden trowel that I frequently use for my soil samples, but I always wondered if I have been collecting my soil sample correctly. Currently, I cut out a triangular wedge of soil with my garden trowel that is 6 inches in depth and set it aside. I then slide my garden trowel back in the hole...

Re: Northeast Brown Patch Breakout
A few days ago I ap lied Headway G fungicide. Is this the same stuff as Heritage G? Does my lawn have a chance to recover? I live in Connecticut and we are getting more sporadic afternoon rain this week. Thanks, Headway is basically Heritage mixed with Propiconazole, offers a broader protection. So...

I applied 2.2lbs/k. Active Ingredient on label reads: Dithiopyr 0.125%ReD-BaRoN wrote:At what rate did you put down Dimension? You *should* be clear by August to re-seed. WIth the Dimension I used (.15% IIRC), 3-4 months was the protection duration at the highest application rate.

Re: Northeast Brown Patch Breakout
I'm a complete newbie so apologies in advance. It went from dark green in mid-June to dull brownish green with brown patches in just ...

Applying 2nd round of dimension soon
I applied Hi-Yield Dimension to my lawn on April. 5th. The product contains 0.125% of Dithiopyr. My lawn is only 5,000 sq. ft. so i just needed one 12 lb. bag. I'm trying to figure out when to apply another bag of this stuff to get me through September. I will be overseeding my lawn in September so ...

Re: "Painting" with Round Up
I read somewhere that if you cut the bottom of a plastic Coca-Cola 2 litter bottle. Place the mouth of the bottle over the quackgrass and spray it within the bottle. The bottle should shield the spray from the surrounding lawn. Anyone try this? It sounds like a possible solution. BTW, jglongisland.....
