Right now I'm thinking of using quinclorac (Drive XLR8) from DoMyOwn.com - bonus that it controls crabgrass as well.
My guess is the second picture is nutsedge, so I'm thinking Sedgehammer (Halosulfuron) or Ortho's nutsedge killer

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Mulch mowed, deadheaded and pruned knockout roses and fertilized them with Bayer Bioadvanced 2-in-1.
Lawn really looking great with a nice, deep-green color. The fertilizer / micronutrient recommendation from this spring is really appreciated!

Thanks, bpgreen.
Is there an alternative to 2.4D (I've reached the max annual limit of 2 apps/yr)?

Pizza order up! 2 Neo-Neapoletan pizzas per Peter Reinhart (from his book "American Pie"); sticky dough when you make it, tricky to work with when rolling out the dough (had some "stones" in the dough when working out the thawed balls), but made a nice, thin, crisp crust with a light edge. https://i...

Weed, ID Please
I put down Dimension during the forsythia bloom. Base of the triangle approach (Ortho WBG) and second layer (Ortho WBG CCO) have served me well (2nd application of Ortho WBG CCO yesterday). One holdout is this small but persistent weed that last season owned much of my front yard before the fall ren...

Found this spider in my shed
Whoa, I got a jolt when I saw this big guy on the wall of my shed as I reached for a shovel. At least 4-5 inches across (not a fish story!) Anyone know what kind it is? Shed is bordering a deep forest, we're 100 yards from a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay. Thanks. https://i.postimg.cc/0KswHV1t/IMG-...

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Second application of Ortho WBG CCO (8% Triclopyr). Good news, most of the broadleaf weeds are gone, hopefully today's app will get rid of the remaining clover and "mystery weed". More Good news, grass has filled in nicely and the fertilizer app (and 1.1 in. of rain last weekend) has left me with a ...

Re: Springtime Rose Care
Totally agreed. :-) I use 3 in 1 myself, a more general formula, with the same result. The aphids nibble and...are very unhappy. Application just before the Japanese beetles appear also results in a nice July rose bloom and very unhappy beetles. Yeah, I meant this https://www.bioadvanced.com/produc...

Re: Catch Cup Test
I ordered a few Rain Bird R-VAN adjustable rotary nozzles from cheapsprinklers.com -- I'll try them out, the U-series heads are just too much flow for me and I want to avoid an on-off-on-off schedule, to big of a lawn to track all the timing.
Will let you know how the R-VANs work out.

Jeeeshh... I just looked tonight and the buds are covered with little white things. Aphids? Should I apply Bayer Bioadvanced 2-in-1 Systemic Rose and Flower? I'm a believer in the Bayer Bioadvanced 2-in-1: aphids may still eat some of the rose, but they'll be sorry :mod: For faster results, you als...

Re: Catch Cup Test
If you want to get fiddly, there are other options; most rotors have replaceable heads and can be spike-mounted or sled-mounted (and have uniformity in the 85% range just like the Orbit). I swear by the Rainbird, which comes with heads numbered from 1 to 12. That would be from "thread of water" to ...

Applied the starter fertilizer and the 20 Mule Team borax w/ Milo carrier. Now the big question: pray for rain or start pulling out hoses?

Nice! Prune regularly, treat with TLC (fertilizer, water only in mornings, watch the diseases and pests) and you'll be rewarded with lots of beautiful blooms!

Micronutrient application of Borax w/ Milo Carrier.
This morning we had a "misting", meaning it wasn't even enough to dampen the borax on the milo while mixing.

1st application of CCO to fight what survived the bottom of the pyramid (impressed how the 2nd application of Ortho WBG a few weeks ago completely wiped out this large section of what I think was dollarweed, some small grass shoots from last fall's overseeding are now emerging from the rubble)

Re: No rain, no irrigation, what to do?
Send some rain my way. Thankfully mostly only the weeds have suffered, but there are areas showing stress (along the property edge where the trees next to the road are sucking the soil dry), hopefully that section will recover as it was looking pretty sweet 6 weeks ago. I'm thinking about giving Mot...

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Stocked up on a "no name" 18-24-12 starter and some Milo for end-of-month applications. DANG I love this farm supply store I found courtesy of my neighbor: the "no name" starter was a steal, WAY less than name brand! (They said it's the same product just packaged in a blank white bag with a printed ...
