Re: Scalp, level, overseed. What’s the proper order?
How big are the spots that you're filling in? And how deep? Are you killing the grass before? If we're talking about deeper than 1-2", I wouldn't see the need to scalp the low spots. Leaving the grass down there would be a plus to OM. Unless you don't want it trying to grow through. If it's a shallo...

Re: Restarting From Scratch
I'm no guru or expert but I'll give you my two cents. 1) Soil amendments and adding lime, starter, and other stuff will get tackled by the Soil Peeps in that section. They enjoy Logan Labs soil tests. They eat em like skittles. 2) I'd nuke it. Glyphosate. You probably won't even need that much of it...

Re: Nitrogen, Winter, and Warmer Climates
Dark, what height do you normally take your lawn down to in winter? Do you think constant feeding your TTTF would be okay? Andy, as you are more familiar with cooler temps, do you ever fertilize when it’s that cool? Is that like Spring to you? Do you think the .5lb/N every other week seems sufficient?

Nitrogen, Winter, and Warmer Climates
I've been brushing up on Andy's Fall Nitrogen Regimen regimen the past few days gearing up for my lawn to come out of summer dormancy. I'm starting to wonder about my large Nitrogen feeding after the pause. I'm also thinking of trying something. I'm thinking about NOT pausing  . I'm consideri...

Re: Crowns Self Adjust
I have zero idea. How much of an adjustment are we talking here? 1/8"?
Are you leveling yearly?
I wouldn't count on the plant adjusting. Sounds easier to put new seed down.

Re: First time home / lawn owner - first reno attempt
I'm not doing any mental math right now but I feel like ~2.5Ksqft. you'll be using about 4 bags/bales/packages on the peat moss. Aim for a light dusting over all the seeds. I usually aim for 1/8" dressing of peat. You're gonna get dirty spreading it. I cut the bags open with an X shape on the ground...

Re: First time home / lawn owner - first reno attempt
I'll take a stab at this one. 1) Soil test is best. You guys can totally use that line, I just made it up. The soil guys over in the Soil sections will help you get your soil in tip top shape if you get a test done at Logan Labs. 2) How bumpy are we talking here? Roll your ankle bumpy? Screened tops...

Re: Schreibdave's 2019 KBG Reno
The only issue i can see rolling it after you have it all done is that if it is moist, it'll most likely stick to your roller. What type of topdressing did you put down? You might be okay with not rolling it. Don't know if I'd come back over it 3-4 days later.

Re: POA Annua Eradication Plan for 2020
Hey Sean, welcome! You are a lot further north than I am with different Poa times. My hunch is dropping Dimension earlier than Labor Day. You could probably keep a good yearly barrier to your yard if you don't plan on reseeding. You might also look into Tenacity. It's a decently heavy hitting Post-E...

Timing for Transplanting Plugs
When is the best time to transplant plugs? I have an area, give or take about 6' around that got wiped early on due to fungus. I might have some recovery this fall but not that much. I have my seed to go down when things start cooling (whenever that'll be). I was hoping to pull some plugs from the r...

Re: Help identifying small brown spot in my yard ;)
TT, I'd recommend an organic approach:
-1 cup of shelled pecans, sprinkled loosely
-any clover from your yard will help that spot
-1 apple, cut into chunks.

Re: When to start fresh or to continue to fight the battle with weeds
I think it really depends on what end result you want. Are you up for kicking it into shape and then keeping it up? Or, did you just want to clear out the weeds and have it look clean? Couple things to consider: 1) Have you tried to Triangle Approach to eliminating your weeds? 2) Do you have any ren...

Problem Identification
I have this spot in my yard. You know the spot...the one that just doesn't like growing as much as the grass next to it. I can't quite figure it out. It's mainly the area with the blue arrow pointing at it (or just above). But a lot of the front curb area is splotched. Here are my observations... ht...

For some weird reason, I'm picturing Andy staring at a 30 gallon rubbermaid container full of Emblem seed in his basement casually smiling to himself.

Frozen Seed
Starting to think about overseeding. I ordered some grass seed (KBG blend) last year and my leftovers went straight into the freezer for safe keeping. Should I take the seed out early before putting it down in the yard this year? I don't know if it needs to slowly heat back up and get ready or just ...

Re: Sidewalk repairs
Just out of curiosity TT, how dense do you make the area you transplant? Do you do, like, 4 3" plugs plugs every square foot or so? I know its a weird question but I was just thinking about your fill in rate and how long until it's fully covered.
