Re: How much N in transition zone? 3 years of KBG in zone 7A
Zareth, I'll be following this pretty closely. So the way I'm interpreting your "not enough" statement is that even though we get frost, your growing season persists much longer than a more northern one. I have trouble with that last N drop (and often skip like HLG suggested) because I feel my grass...

Re: Summer Dormancy: What's Your Situation?
Back yard looks fine, still growing across 95%. Front yard sounds like HLG, coverage gaps in irrigation. 2 spots that I swear are getting hit but aren't sending off new growth. Replaced two sprinkler heads to help but might be too late if it went dormant. But still, 80% of front is still growing. I ...

Rabbit Den in Yard
I’ve been seeing rabbits more frequently in my yard and then I noticed a little den today. It was covered and whatnot with a bunch of dead grass clippings. I don’t think there will be any major detrimental effects to my yard and I like seeing them. Is there anything more I can do to help them decide...

Hunkering Down
I've never hunkered down for a hurricane. I have hunkered down for tornadoes though. You just get that feeling of "nope, nope, that's not right, time to go hide." I just got that feeling when I saw about a week straight of 100F+ in my forecast. I'll be boarding up my house, staying inside, and peeki...

Looking good KBGKA, nice and even. I like that dark streak in the last pic...little ravine or something?

Looking good Rod! Everything looks nice and level, I see the greenness coming in, and we've received a little bit of rain. You got this.

Just out of curiosity, are you gonna apply it too 100% of yard or leave an area untouched so you can compare?

Re: To Mow or Not To Mow?...That is the Question
Green, no it's all irrigated. Its getting about 1.25" a week unless we we get some rain showers then I turn it off. Bern, I find your "test plot" story super interesting. I haven't had that same experience but now I'm thinking about trying it out. I have used Serenade 2 times already, but should be ...

Re: To Mow or Not To Mow?...That is the Question
Green, ideally I could wait till a little before some rain and cooler weather. We’ll see if that happens. Fingers crossed! Envy, I’m a little jealous of your grass now. If I continued milo through summer...I feel like my fungal pressure would be through the roof. Looks like you have a little more ra...

Eddie: BRown blades down low Smol: I’ve thought about tapering the curb towards the house so it’s not as noticeable with my weed eater. I think I’m in too deep to mow, or wait till it rains and cools. Andy: I feel like tall and half alive would burn slower than shorter and all dead. If I’m wrong, yo...

To Mow or Not To Mow?...That is the Question
Some may recall that I am trying my hardest not to mow through summer. My yard is definitely the darkest on the block as well as the tallest (around 9"). Its definitely not the thickest though. I'm having an internal struggle on if I should mow or not. Pro List 1)Neighbors might think it looks bette...

Re: Here Comes the Burn-Out
Since Andy is basically asking "how long is yours?" I went ahead and busted out a ruler. :rotfl: https://i.postimg.cc/QHDfVhWw/IMG-2545.jpg About average height of 8"...and if I physically lift the blades, i can definitely hit 10". The summer has turned me into a fan of the 70's shag carpets. https:...

Nitrogen's Lasting Effects
No soil test here, just a soil question. I've allied nitrogen (.5lb/K) to my yard twice this spring. Basically when it was waking up in February and maybe hit it again in March. Since then I've been coasting on rainfall and don't plan on adding anymore until fall. How long does Nitrogen last in the ...

Re: Ugh, red thread already
I've had a bunch of powdery mildew, especially in areas up against walls and such where there's no air flow. Serenade is going down tomorrow (arrives today). I'm planning on keeping up Serenade through the summer like you most likely will be. I guess we need to think about a pre-emptive treatment fo...

I've worked with the Serenade regimen before...just didn't know if there was a better prescription out there.

Re: Weed ID
Looks like a chickweed to me. However, the leaves look more rounded like clover but the flowers look like chickweed. I think you'll be looking for a spray with triclopyr in it like most of the CCO weed killers. But, I'll let some other more experienced eyes take a look. Good luck!
