Re: Looking for some off-season help
Any desire for a soil spray or will the drip down be enough? I plan to pull back the mulch and redo it.

Re: Looking for some off-season help
No worries Morph! Nothing budding yet. I heavily pruned the OG tree and those around it. As you stated, the surrounding ones look like they'll be OK. My plan was to see if the OG tree looses any more branches this spring and if so, out it goes. I have Clearys 3336f (Thiophanate - Methyl), Bonide Cop...

Re: Using someone else's leaves
I collect leaves as well, many of them and I can’t point to any widespread issues. Especially if you’re using prodiamine, weed seeds shouldn’t be an issue. Maybe other diseases but I roll the dice. The OM is great for my Sandy soil

Re: Looking for some off-season help
OK Morph, I just got the results back this morning - they had to incubate the sample for a bit. They came back with Phomopsis dieback, tip blight and Canker (Phomopsis sp./spp.). Option 1 - fully remove the tree Option 2 - Prune and treat - I feel that this is a possibility given that the tree isn't...

Re: Looking for some off-season help
Sample is sitting with UMass at this time so hopefully I’ll get something back this week. I’ll report back with the diagnosis and hopefully the Drs thoughts on recommended treatment plans. I’m starting to see similar dead branches on the Norway spruce next to it so I gotta control this now.

Re: Looking for some off-season help
I reached out to the umass ag department to see if they think they can help but also asked if they think IDing it would change any recommendation. I’m looking at 3 diff sprays: Bonide Fung-onil Bonide Mancozeb Or something like Kocide 3000 (bit expensive) Any thoughts on a preferred spray? I’m going...

Re: Looking for some off-season help
Hey Morph, Yes they were planted with the bottom half of the burlap bag and metal basket, whatever I couldn’t cut off once it was in the hole. It isn’t any more wet than the others but I am going to make sure the sprinklers are not hitting it when I fire them up this year. I was assuming some kind o...

Looking for some off-season help
Looking to see if anyone is able to help here. I planted, in a row, about 10 different evergreen trees a few years ago. They have been doing great but I have one, blue spruce, that is starting to deteriorate from the bottom up. It’s losing its needles from the bottom up. I’m not seeing anything weir...

Re: Leaves dropping extremely fast this year
Mine are definitely down early but not complaining, I’m usually chasing them all year. I’ve also had about 16 truck loads of leaves dumped on my Sandy area, been a good year for mulching them up!

Re: Average First Frost Date vs Real First Frost Date
I definitely noticed my grass slow it’s growth around Oct 15-20 and my AFFD is 10/14 so there is another data point for ya. Last fert was first week in October so things are progressing nicely. My only issue is really determining when it actually stops, I feel like it’s been post thanksgiving the la...

Working Urea
Apologies if these answers are on here somewhere but I was looking to understand how much water is needed to “adequately” water in urea? Still in semi drought conditions here so I’m trying to water the min. Also how long, generally, does it take for the urea to run its course? I’m assuming that the ...

Re: Urea source
My local feed mill, 40 min away, is 38.99. Agway used to be $25 but green mountain went out of business and the guy said it’s not a good seller and not worth finding a new vendor. Valley Green wanted $53!

Re: Seeding in Maine...opinions needed
I agree, that looks like a decent covering if it’s KBG. Maybe start some pots to fill in holes in the Spring but I don’t think you need another full overseeding.

Are you in an area where you’re concerned with run off or that the higher amount of rain washed the fert through?

Re: Recovering from drought
Monday into Tuesday we got 7.5” in the gauge and our local streams are barely moving, water absorbed really well into the ground. Awesome to see but we still need more!

We got down to 50 last night so I’m hoping this cooler night thing helps out. Going to add some BSF today before I cut. Rain Monday and Tuesday!
