Re: A Perfect Saturday ruined
Yes! When purchased in bulk, it is called "Old Grandad". Be aware, however, that the bulk version appears to have the trace element Iodine added. At least it seems like it when you drink apply it. Be aware of over-applying this --- there have been reports of the Poa Triv seeming to "swim around the ...

Re: A Perfect Saturday ruined
I agree, although some of the newer folks may need an Article explaining that some of the Lesco products are applied to the Lawn and measured in PPM, and others are applied to the Lawn Owner and are measured in BACP (Blood Alcohol Content Percentage). Either that, or we need a conversion chart for L...

Re: Hello....My lawn soil test results
Jeez, David, am I that transparent? :sorry: CQ: David may be overstating my concerns a little, but not too much. I'm always open to the remote possibility that there is a limestone quarry in Charleston. The new information that you sent in your second posting heightens my concerns. You say "Clay" an...

Re: Hello....My lawn soil test results
So, CQ - let's see what we have there... The test is from Clemson. Good. If there's a University that really knows the Southeast soils, that's Clemson. But right away we run into trouble based on what Clemson posts in articles on Southeast soils, and your soil. Here's what Clemson says: If soil pH i...

Hi, CQ !!!! Welcome! Oooh, some Centipede on high-pH Southeast clay. Now that's one that we don't get every day. I don't know if any of us will get to your analysis this evening - it's been a long busy day. But we'll definitely get to it in the morning. PS to anyone working on this one: it's in Lbs/...

Men, Women and Color
I have always told my wife that most colors that she sees when she buys sheets, curtains, etc. DON'T EXIST... There are no colors like "Ecru". Men only see Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, Black and White. I heard a report once that a Man once saw something called "Orange", but University studies failed to...

When LQC members get the White Cloud of Death, it is not necessarily PM. It could be that you hit the soil, which is 100% Calcium.

Absolutely guilty. Immediately zoomed in on a 24" monitor to see if TW might become a KBG fanatic.
There were mountains in the picture???
LOL - best of luck with it, TW. All the best!

Re: So how does Poa Trivialis jump around the lawn...
Yeah - if it is interwoven the lawn will just look a little lighter. I remember posting pictures of a section of my lawn early last year and asking "anybody see the lightness?" and everyone couldn't see it in photos. Then it reached critical mass and boom - it couldn't be missed.

Yeah - I've seen numbers between 9" - 14". Anything over 4" means it ain't seeding on my lawn.

I've had a lot of luck contacting Agway dealers and asking them to special-order Soy Bean Meal for me. You have Agway dealers near you. It takes a week from special-order to get it, but a little planning makes that part of your look-ahead work. Not hard.

Re: Fallowing to reduce Poa
I believe in the practice, but I'm going to question your timing. I'm not sure that if the Summer is normally hot that the Poa Annua seeds would attempt germination in July. They might just sit there and outlast the fallowing process. It would work for the Triv, but the Poa Annua I dunno.

Re: weed burning tool
I've never used a weed-burning tool, but I've always been scratching my head about how people can make statements about burning out Poa Annua and then (in the next sentence) speak about how it's so important to get all the roots too. Seems inconsistent to me, but I've learned to keep my mouth shut a...

Re: Washer/Dryer
I didn't pick the washing machine. I didn't stay married successfully for 30 years by telling the wife what tools she can have when I don't use them much. It arrived and I stood over it watching the star-wars features like a kid in a candy store. I'm a diehard believer that if each part in a mechani...

Re: Powdery Mildew
It was funny, actually. My oldest son was trying out the new Honda mower and hit a Powdery Mildew area, throwing up the signature White Cloud of Death. He immediately turned off the mower and called me over. I couldn't stop laughing at him.
