Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
First mow of the year today. Sections of the front yard well over 4” growth so it was time. Fantastic green-up this spring and the lawn looked great after a haircut. Applied OceanGo (NJ Milo alternative) bag rate as well for a small feeding to kick off the season.

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Spot sprayed some weeds and edged around the sidewalk and driveway.
After a rainy end of last week and some nicer weather this weekend, all of the forsythia in my neighborhood I watch as pre-M tell have fully bloomed. Planning on dropping my application Wednesday before overnight rain.

Dropped my winterizer application Friday evening before some rain yesterday and it is now all watered in. Cleaned off the mower, took the blade off (to sharpen at some point) and rearranged the shed for winter. Thats a wrap.

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Mowed yesterday and noticed zero growth since the last mow a week and a half ago. Really just mulched some leaves.
Need to wait on some rain to put down winterizer. Hopefully this weekend.

Mulch mowed leaves in my backyard last night before it got dark. Wake up this morning....to a leaf covered back yard.

Re: Labor Day: Time for Best Weed Control
I overseeded on 8/14 and have lots of germination currently. When is it safe to start battling some weeds?

Overseeded my TTTF for the first time in 5 years today. Cut down at 3" and bagged the clippings. Overseeded and got a good water down on it before the afternoon temperature rises. Set the timer and now its just a waiting game. I'm thinking starter fertilizer the first sign of germination.

Re: Anyone else done with "the milo" for the summer?
I usually do my last slow release application of the year (Ocean-Gro for me) right before 4th of July. So I dropped that last week and I will be done with fertilizer until September when I will switch to synthetic.

No rain for days and none in sight. Irrigated part of the front lawn last night and the other half as we speak.

Re: Milorganite
You won't be able to find this, but I use Ocean Gro which is a New Jersey alternative to Milorganite. If you can't find Milo I would bet your area has an alternative at your local garden center.

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
I think I am officially into a mowing twice a week schedule. Mowed on Sunday at 4" and just walking through the yard this morning it looks like I will need to mow again mid-week to keep up with the growth!

Re: Where is the Forsythia Line?
In my part of Central Jersey, Forsythia is simply budding out. Bloom is still a few days to a week off. I think this is why the Forsythia is a better gauge than soil temperature web site predictions. The Forsythia results show specific local conditions. Yeah, I'm sure it varies around the state. I'...

Re: Where is the Forsythia Line?
Central NJ is now in bloom. I'm a little worn down from my second shot yesterday, but I'm going to try to drop Pre-M today because we have rain coming all day tomorrow.

Re: Where is the Forsythia Line?
Got my GDD tracker notification this morning that the timing is "Optimum" but the forsythia in my neighborhood in Central NJ have not yet bloomed. Waiting from the plants to tell me, not the email. Just hoping the rain works in my favor once the window opens.

Re: 2020: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Noticed no top growth since a week after last mow so I dropped my winterizer application yesterday before all of this rain. That's all folks. I had some thin/dead spots that popped up in my front yard late summer either due to lack of watering in August or something else. I probably should have over...

Re: 2020: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
I dropped Oceangro bag rate yesterday before the afternoon storm. First nitrogen I've applied since June. I usually drop Oceangro (or Milo) every month from May-August but I decided to give it a rest during our very hot June-July. Lawn is looking a bit tired so hopefully this starts to wake it up be...

My local nursery I usually get my bags from every April just opened up and I plan in taking a drive by at the end of the week to see if they have any in stock.
