Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?

Cut at 3.5". Edged my sidewalk and driveway. Dropped OceanGro. Drank a beer in the yard. Great day.

I can’t really see in this picture very well, but maybe Star of Bethlehem?
This would be my guess as well. I had a patch of that a few years ago and it looked very similar. I dug mine out completely and it hasn't returned.

Raked up some sticks that fell from the trees. Put down Prodiamine.

Nice, I don’t think you are to far from me? So we’ll see. I’m going for it I think. Otherwise I don’t know when I’ll have the time. How much demension do you use?
I use Prodiamine. .75 tbsp/1k.

That’s my plan. I don’t see why not, it’s just frozen water.

Just an FYI, budding is not blooming. I’ve seen no Forsythia in full bloom yet. We are probably a week out.
The photo Andy posted above are what the bushes I use look like right now. They had buds before the snow and in the few days since it warmed up they bloomed.

Central Jersey as well. My “go to” bushes popped yesterday. Full bloom yellow. I’ll be putting down prodiamine this weekend.

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?

Hoping some of this snow melts today with the warmer and sunnier weather. Forsythia bushes have yellow nubs on them, its almost time to drop pre-M.

Watched it get covered with snow. Extremely low temps moving in, this snow will be there for quite some time.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

I'm in central NJ and cleaned up my yard last Monday and dropped winterizer because snow was coming. It has been covered with snow ever since and got another inch last night. Really happy I thought ahead with that because I'd be screwed at this point. Glad I did my final winterizer app, too. But I ...

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

Dropped my winterizer app of Urea down this morning over a little bit of remaining slush during a light drizzle. A few of my neighbors that were taking their morning walk must have thought I am crazy . Crazy how one very small state could differ so much. I'm in central NJ and cleaned up my yard las...

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

Started to cut today and noticed there has been no top growth in the last week. Switched from mulch to bag and did my last clean up cut of the year. Clean my mower and put it away until next season. With rain in the forecast tomorrow I applied winterizer fertilizer application. Another one in the bo...

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

Cut the lawn today mostly to mulch leaves. Still a bit of top growth but very, very minimal. I’m thinking next weekend might be my last mow and time to drop winterizer but I’ll see if I actually cut any grass.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

Lowered my HOC to 3" yesterday to mulch some leaves and bring it down from 3.5". I like to keep it at this length for the winter.

First frost last night, it got too cold too fast!

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

Took the dogs for a walk this evening. Lawns are officially waking back up. Even yards that aren't well maintained all year are starting to boom. Fall is here in NJ.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens

Read the first sentence for the "Early Fall" section and you'll see that right away there is advice about not moving the lawn into growth gear quickly. Shock is not a good thing for any living thing, and in grass it can be manifested as disease. Solid advice Andy. Thanks for the heads up. This week...

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens

Put down my first Urea treatment Saturday before rain. Today I needed to mow because of the rain/Urea. Can't wait until next week's treatment, I'm hoping it wakes some of the dormant areas up.

Andy did you forego a fall pre emergent this year or use the Tenacity method until Day 60 or so?
