Re: Finding Urea in NJ
I just picked up some from my local coop and it was 24.00 for a 50 lbs bag. They have another place nearby that sells bulk at .25 cents a pound but you have to buy it a ton at a time......

Re: Fall/Winter urea question
I got almost all of the urea down this evening before it got dark. I always apply at half the rate and run one direction, then load the 2nd half and do the other direction. I am down to 1 fifty pound bag left to put down on the last acre. As of right now there is a 90 % chance of rain starting late ...

Re: Fall/Winter urea question
I have read it is best to put it down right before a rain if you can't water it in. There can be issues if it sits on the ground because it can start to dissolve from the dew but it won't get deep into the soil like it does from a rain. It can also loose some of it's potency the longer it sits witho...

Re: Fall/Winter urea question
I am in east central Indiana. The online map shows our soil temps in the upper 40's. I went out this morning with an instant reed thermometer and checked several spots and all showed 47-48 degrees. They are calling for rain this coming Thursday and it is supposed to get cold again this weekend. So a...

Re: Fall/Winter urea question
There is no rain in the forecast for a week or two right now. The problem is next week temps are supposed to be above average, into the 60's. I am guessing this will be our last little warm stretch and hope by the times more rain gets here the temps will be down a little.
Thanks for the advise.

Fall/Winter urea question
It is getting real close to time for me to put down my last nitrogren application of the year. I have 3 acres to cover this year. One acre is well established, one acre is a couple years old but I overseeded in early September. The last I acre was completely new this spring and I also aerated and ov...

Re: Getting rid of weeds in young lawn
When you say you seeded did you do a complete reno or just over seed. If it was an overseed, what height are you mowing? I did an overseed on September 17th and did not spray it at all this fall. Ill wait until spring. I just didn't trust it will be established enough to handle weed killer. Most stu...

Re: TTTF Overseed
It took my TTTF lawn a few years to really fill in but after that I haven't had the need to overseed.

Re: Raking prior to dormant overseeding
What I did with my most recent was I put the seed down early this spring a few days before a late snow was forecasted. I know it's not always an option with the ground being wet but late winter/early spring this year there was a snow in the forecast. The ground was firm enough I was able to get the ...

Re: Raking prior to dormant overseeding
I might get flamed for this but here is what I have learned, after renovating my 5 acre property one acre at a time. Yes water is important but not as important as some people claim on here. Many will say if your seed dries out at all before it sprouts the seed is no longer viable. When I have kille...

Re: Raking prior to dormant overseeding
I have a lot of experience with seeding/overseeding large areas. I have 3 acres of TTF I have killed off and renovated over the past several years. When it comes to overseeding I have had the best luck in the fall. I core aerate and put the seed down when there are several days of rain in the foreca...

https://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=26918 I am not sure if these are available in your area but here is al ink to a thread I started. I ended up using the one in the image marked Houndog brand. It is by DLF Pickseed which has some good stuff I have used in the past. This one came u...

Re: Insecticide question
I spray Bifen around the perimeter of my house a couple times a year. I make a complete barrier wetting the bottom 2 to 3 feet all the way around. I also go around the every door and window. I very rarely have ants, spiders, etc. in the house. I don't worry about bugs in any other areas on my proper...

Re: Need opinions for methods on full reno
I know it's a controversial subject but I can tell you I have overseeded with and without core aeration. On the job where I core aerated every hole had grass growing up out of it and there was more germination from the seeds in the holes compared to those just laying on the surface. I also think the...

Re: When To Plant Fescue in Alpharetta GA
How big is the area? I assume you don't have a way to water it since it died this summer? If you can't water it I would watch the weather and wait for a forecast that is calling for rain. I overseeded two acres yesterday because they are calling for rain the next three days in my area. When you can'...

Re: Should I overseed with either one of these?
So I called the place today and their TTTF blend is 130.00 for 50 lbs. Given the amount I need to do (I might overseed a second acre as well). I think I am going to try the lower priced local option. I talked to a local landscaper and he said he doesn't typically use that seed he said he has used it...

Re: Should I overseed with either one of these?
Also, just so you know, I have a very large yard and am overseeding an acre. My entire lot is 5 acres so I don't want it to be perfect, I just keep it weed free and as thick as possible. This particular acre is the last one acre section I have completely renovated, I seeded it this spring with TTTF.

Re: Poor kill with Compare N Save Glyphosphate
If you don't need large amounts of gly. I buy the Round UP Quick Pro packs and have great success with those. It has a very high percentage plus other stuff to make it fast acting. Some of the more fragile weeds will be brown in less then an house. In the heat of the summer I will spray around my ho...

Should I overseed with either one of these?
The local Co-op I usually use cannot get grass seed right now. Where I live there is only one store selling any TTTF. Both of these come in 50 lbs bags. My other option is drive about 60 miles to Indianapolis where I should be able to find a place selling better seed. The two options I have right no...
