Re: Poa Triv - what would you do if you were me?

You pretty much have one option and that’s round up the triv and reseed or Hope the kbg spreads into it Hi guys. Quick follow-up. I'm fairly certain I'm going to attempt this on my own (as the one estimate I received included $2k for labor! in addition to a few hundred for materials). I plan to wal...

Re: What type of grasses are these?

The left 2 blades *may* be Perennial Rye. I say this because the vernation appears folded in the photo. Tall Fescue has rolled vernation. It's hard to tell from the photo, though. Thank you and I think you may be right. I actually just found the old bag I used (this was a spot fill in a bad part of...

What type of grasses are these?

Are the two on the left both TTTF (multiple 'lines', as opposed to just one line down the middle) and the one on the right is KBG? Or is anything PR?

Thanks!

Re: My lawn never seems to stand up and look great

Ok thank you again. As I'm already a bit late, and don't have irrigation, I think it's a no go this year, but maybe I'll plan ahead for next year to get started earlier (and decide if I want to keep setting up my sprinklers...).

Re: My lawn never seems to stand up and look great

Understood and sorry for all the questions. At this point I'm mainly not quite following when exactly to start (is it when the grass starts to brown a little, is it when things per up...)? And do I do the wake up dose of milo before labor day, or was that only for the standard (non aggressive plan)?...

Re: My lawn never seems to stand up and look great

The thread is 49 pages long, but every year I boil down additions to the thread into the first/original posting in the whole thread. Read the first post and bookmark it in the Fall for details you may want later in the season. Fall Nitrogen Regimens Thread Ok, wow, lot of info there! Not sure if I ...

Re: My lawn never seems to stand up and look great

I have not. Can you point me to a link on this? I tried the search feature but all it showed me was people's posts mentioning it, but I didn't find an information page. Thanks!

Re: My lawn never seems to stand up and look great

Southern-ct, one other question, does this affect the whole lawn? I always find the grass is weaker in areas that get some shade from structures and isn't as dense. So far, I don't know of a solution. Not really, it's pretty much everywhere and it's pretty much always been like this. Again, even at...

Re: My lawn never seems to stand up and look great

Thanks again andy. I'll read this over and I know I need to get a soil test (from the company you guys use) so I can post it.

Re: Poa Triv - what would you do if you were me?

andy, understood and thank you! you are exactly right. definitely grasping for straws here... appreciate your long response and setting me straight. separate question for you (as I see that you have only KBG), do you constantly-ish put down pre-M (dimension/prodiamine) to keep anything/everything fr...

Re: Poa Triv - what would you do if you were me?

You pretty much have one option and that’s round up the triv and reseed or Hope the kbg spreads into it Last question on this topic and then I'll have to make a final decision; any thoughts on using the Certainty (at the lower level) instead of round up, as it should kill the triv, not kill the goo...

Re: My lawn never seems to stand up and look great

Not that I doubt what you are saying, but are you really saying that if Calcium, Magnesium, Phos, Potas, etc... (if that's what you mean by 'cations') are at a good level, that pH will also be at a good level? That doesn't jive with the soil tests results I've gotten over the years (from both UCONN ...

Re: Is there any reason to use actual lime these days?

Thanks so much. I'll probably try the sta-green for now, perhaps go back to magical or solucal next year.

Re: Poa Triv - what would you do if you were me?

Ok thanks. I guess I'm back to square one; either do nothing or possibly get out the glyphosate and get to work. If I do round it up, I would of course want to reseed, which means no Dimension. I would use the scotts starter with tenacity. Is that about as good a plan as any? Unfortunately there's j...

Re: Is there any reason to use actual lime these days?

Thanks. If I go the route of fast acting lime (and find one that's truly fast acting), what are the usage limits (of course I'll look at the bag as well, but is there a general limit per application, like there is for 'regular' lime)? Also, if you do have any specific recommendations on brands, I'm ...

Re: My lawn never seems to stand up and look great

Yeah, mine just never does that except in occasional spots here and there... :( I assume it could be pH related (I have acidic soil and haven't been able to get the pH to a good level yet), which is causing my grass to not absorb/efficiently utilize the nutrients, correct? Otherwise I'm pretty sure ...

Re: Poa Triv - what would you do if you were me?

I don't know if you're reading all of the posts. I very clearly posted: At the rates that were originally listed when it was labelled for Cool-Season, it is OK to use on KBG and OK on PRG up to a lower limit. It is not for use on TTTF Certainty can be used to deliberately kill TTTF. Oh geez, I comp...

Re: My lawn never seems to stand up and look great

HOC is about 4" (highest setting on my old Bolens mower). I believe I have gator blades. I'm also wondering if my mower (being underpowered/old/cheap/etc...) just doesn't do a good job of lifting the blades? I mow once/week, anywhere from 5-7 days (should probably be doing 4 days as it's been growin...
