Re: Vinceisvince - 2023- Soil test - Columbia SC

Vince, there's no surprise with the "disappearing" nutrients - I grimaced when I saw the TEC and OM numbers. The stuff just isn't hanging around on its journey to China. No more Boron for a couple of years. I'd keep using Milorganite on that lawn if I were you - reasonably heavy. At least it hangs a...

Re: John's Soil Test

Gumbo is very tough to work with - it gets soggy easily and heaves and cracks when it dries. Some people try 30 lbs/K of Gypsum twice a year (April and September), it takes 3-5 years to work, and we just don't have the patience to wait that long. I'd go with a balanced fertilizer every 6-8 weeks of ...

Re: HoosierDaddy 2023 Soil Test

HD: I like your plan to go for a maintenance plan for 2023. Go a little lighthanded on the 2022 plan. Try the Humic Acid as bag rate using The Anderson's Humic DG once in April and once in September, as described on the bag. Fertilizer should be a no-Phosphorus fertilizer or ask about using SOP and ...

Re: Chris's 2023 Soil Test

Chris: The results are a bit weird this year, and I'd like to see you repeat last year's plan, and up the efforts in the OM area. The visible results are what I'm working toward, as the AA distorts the by-the-numbers a lot. Let the micronutrients stay where they are for 2023. Sorry, both tests are h...

Re: John's Beach House Soil test 2022

Your soil test results are a bit surprising in some areas - the soil is better in the TEC and Organic Matter than I would expect for a beach sand area. I would have expected a TEC down around 2 and the OM to be between 1-2%... That said, the results indicate a soil that will easily dry out in Summer...

Re: John's Beach House Soil test 2022

OK, a few questions: (1) Is this really a beach with sand and all? (2) Is it really limited to being 1000 sq ft? (Also please fix your profile to contain "Lawn Size" and "Experience Level") (3) do you irrigate/water the lawn? If so, how often is it watered? (4) what are your mowing habits (height of...

Finally Back and Getting Down to ATY Work

I'm finally back from my Key Largo home and new job, and ready to jump back to getting my ATY work. While I've been here all along and working on things in the background (approving postings and new members), I've kept a pretty low profile. Folks waiting for soil test interpretations, etc should see...

Re: Moss. Moss. Moss.

Yes - 3 oz per gallon. And Yes, at 6.3 and 6.5 it's unlikely pH is your problem - but always remember that pH is an indirect indicator.

Re: Moss. Moss. Moss.

Swami, I looked into your history and saw that this is not your first rodeo in dealing with moss control issues. I see a thread from 2019 and other mentions. Have you spent real time trying to find the underlying problem that causes the recurrence of your moss problem, or just hit it when it's espec...

In the micro's, only Boron is short. 4 tablespoons/K of Twenty Mule Team Laundry Soap every 60 days. Apply as outlined in the Micronutrient Application Guide.

Re: Yimmyb60 2022 soil test

I looked pretty closely at your applications and your soil test results, and I'm reasonably sure that your soil is not your problem. Also, your applications are not following any organized direction or pattern - they're almost kind of random. The good news is that the soil really doesn't need that m...

Re: What's happening where you live?

A few nuisance snows, but nothing that adds up to much. Prediction is for no prolonged cold snaps in February here, but March will be cooler than normal. I'm tired of this, gonna go hide for 3 weeks or so in Key Largo home.
