I watched it rain five inches in the last two days. It's wetter than April here.

Re: Black Locust Question.
They go pretty far out from the stumps. Some are near and some are far.

Black Locust Question.
I have black locust wanting to grow in many scattered perimeter areas. Are these plants coming up from seed or roots? Last winter I removed five trees. Is this the roots in a survival mode sending up shoots? What is the best way to get rid of them?

I don't live too far from the original poster and have Mazama. It has great genetic 7.7 dark color and is doing well in shady areas. I'm very pleased with it.

Bazilbrush You risk transplanting the Trivialis by moving it around. It will come back where the stolons are, but if you have a plan ahead of time, you will have upper hand next time around.

I am curious. You say you have 'dead grass and thatch' in your garden, because you sprayed Tenacity. Is this your vegetable garden or flower garden?

Re: Prostrate Knotweed
I also did a dormant seeding (December 1st) that has turned out nicely. I had quite a bit of prostrate knotweed as well. I sprayed them once with triclopyr and they disappeared. Use of the triclopyr brand you have pictured will more than likely be off label for turf and you will have to be studious ...

Re: A question for the chemists amongst us.
My pear tree was severely attacked by psylla this year and last. Six weeks ago it lost all of its foliage. The available chemical treatments are very expensive and need to be rotated, like fungicides. The psylla attack from spring until leaf fall. So I did mix up and apply a eryritol based concoctio...

A question for the chemists amongst us.
https://academic.oup.com/jee/article/113/5/2293/5859736 In this study they mention making a 20% solution of Erythritol. I can't see in the study how they obtained the solution. As I thought about it, one could add either 20% Erythritol by volume or weight. One gallon of water weighs 3750 grams. I re...

Devildawg81, Those are nice stands. My bees apparently dont like the plastic foundation we gave them. Very little comb also and they are building cross comb, to avoid it I guess. We put a chicken waterer for sugar water inside on top, with an extra 'deep' box to hide it. Andy,Here we have Farm and F...

Re: Quackgrass Update
I had some success with roundup this spring by touching the spray tip in the center of plants and giving a very little squirt. That way you don't have any overspray.

Re: 'New' House, New Lawn Renovation Continued 2021
I have an area beneath a giant soft maple tree to the rear of my house (that my wife loves) with quite a bit of powdery mildew. I have sort of kept an eye on it hoping with summer temperatures maybe it would go away. If anything it has grown and the grass looked sickly. Thursday I purchased a little...
