Re: Warm wet December = poa in spring...

So I walked the yard this morning to spot spray broadleaf that popped up from the warm, wet weather and I must've counted 30 different Poa plants that have sprouted in the last few weeks. Unbelievable. I'm kicking myself for not (or knowing to at the time) using a fall Pre-M. My question is, if I sp...

Re: Warm wet December = poa in spring...

I have TONS of Poa seed heads and clover that just appeared in the last few warm wet days. A few weeks ago I could've counted on one hand how many times I had to spot spray weeds while doing my weekly walk of the yard. Now...BOOM.

Re: Warm wet December = poa in spring...

You got a 5000 sq ft lawn? Well, here's the good news: one bottle of Barricade 65WDG should last you about 30 years. The length of my mortgage. Perfect! Thanks Berstem. Haven't picked them up yet so hadn't t seen label. Much appreciated. [ Post made via iPhone ] http://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/ima...

Re: Warm wet December = poa in spring...

Barricade 65WDG (which I use) and Tenacity are tank mixable. Dosing varies depending on how long a pre-emergent barrier you want and what dose of Tenacity you want to use. The labels will provide detailed information. I use Prodiamine at 0.75 lbs/A twice per year (early spring and early fall). That...

Re: Warm wet December = poa in spring...

Tenacity is an option for late season Poa. It will kill some of the smaller, freshly germinated plants and provide ~30 days of pre-emergent protection which should last until the ground is too cold for new germination. I would then mix Tenacity with my pre-emergent in the spring (assuming they are ...

Re: Warm wet December = poa in spring...

Got it. Walked through lawn this morning and saw more poa flowering than I originally thought. Would it benefit me to do anything now or wait until spring?

Re: Warm wet December = poa in spring...

I noticed Poa blooming in the last few days. Wait for spring to hit with Tenacity? Pull it if you can. Much better than letting it overwinter. I don't mind pulling it, but it is several bunches and I wanted to throw Barricade down in spring which would make it hard to seed these areas. If I tenacit...

Re: What did you do to or on your lawn today?

Oak tree in front yard lost the rest of its leaves so I blew them all into the street for pick up tomorrow. Been a week since last cut and winterizer and there has been a bit of growth. Although I would've loved to wait until growth completely stopped, I wouldn't have been able to drop winterizer un...

Re: Spring/Summer Regimen

Is there really a harm in dropping Milo in the middle of summer? This year I was going to drop once a month April-October.

Re: Who still hasn't winterized?

Dropped mine today. First time using Urea. Used a kitchen scale I got cheap on Amazon and did it by section. Went very well. Can't wait to see the results come spring!

Quick mow today really to mulch leaves. Very minimal growth in the past week. I am tentatively planning to drop Urea and close yard next weekend.

Re: Extra month of lawncare activity - what do you plan to d

I expect growth to continue after the last two days of rain. Looking at the forecast it looks like the highs are going to be in the mid-high 50s and lows ranging from mid 30s-mid 40s through the next 10 days. The wait continues.

Re: Extra month of lawncare activity - what do you plan to d

Mowed again today and removed about 3/4-1 inch from last mow about 10 days ago. I will revisit the lawn this weekend and see where it stands. I'm anxious to throw down Urea so I can finally get all the equipment put away for winter but I don't want to risk it with growth still present. Odd to be mow...

Re: Extra month of lawncare activity - what do you plan to d

I pretty much finished everything I needed to do. Still cutting about every 10 days and waiting for the day to come when the grass has stopped so I can winterize, run the equipment dry, trim, edge and finally tune the mower up for next year. Took advantage of this nice weather and got Christmas ligh...

Re: What did you do to or on your lawn today?

I've decided to hold off on my winterization I planned to do this week before all the mid week rain. It has been so mild in Central NJ (sunny and 60s) that my grass is still growing. With weather like this I may not be able to drop Urea until mid-December.

Re: Fall Aggressive Program Users: How's It Going?

Why does Milorganite suggest the last feeding to be on thanksgiving if it does no good? Is it as simple and selling more bags or is that up for debate?] Also, the Milorganite labeling is the same everywhere. We're in the more northern range for lawn fertilization in the USA; folks further south hav...

bauer time - on 5K, a hand spreader would fit the bill nicely. I know, but I don't have one and was just going to use my broadcast.
