Re: Extremely dry weather - irrigation plan

Yeah, it's been very dry for New Hampshire. NH usually gets at least 4" of natural rainfall in June. I had been hoping for one of those downpours here on Wednesday or Thursday but they missed us. The local town water supplies have implemented bans of all outdoor water use - not just an odd/even sch...

Re: DiseaseEx after BioAdvanced Fungus Control

You should be fine as DiseaseEx can be applied in 2 week intervals.

The label has no restriction on temps to apply it in.

Re: Extremely dry weather - irrigation plan

I'm pretty sure that if wer got a half inch of rain in a month, the headlines would be taking about a potential end to the drought. I’m sure in your area that applies. Right now I’m wondering if the severity of my issues was the result of fungal issues. We got a 15 minute downpour yesterday and sup...

Re: Extremely dry weather - irrigation plan

Pic taken this morning (6/23). Ive increased the duration to 90 minute cycles and getting a little recovery as yesterday was overcast and gave the lawn a break. Day after day of 90F heat with 50-60% humidity and bright clear skies with full sun is hard to counter with no rain. The driest areas are b...

Re: Anyone still dropping Milo?

My lawn looks Ok despite the high temps and lack of rain. My irrigation seems to be doing its job, but right about this time I start doubting my fertilizer plan. I usually I drop BSF (Milo) at 1/2 bag rate very two weeks from May 1st to July 1st, on the last app in July I'll add SOP so i get 3 SOP ...

Re: Extremely dry weather - irrigation plan

Be careful what you wish for - a full-grown (mature) tree can remove 40,000 gallons of water a year. That’s why I mentioned strategically placed :) Three are on the edge and one is a front yard tree (Redbud). It will take them a good 10-15 years before they can start giving any shade to areas of th...

Re: Extremely dry weather - irrigation plan

I have a well, and it takes me about 1.5 hours/zone to put down .41”. I have seven zones/10-11K turf. I use ten cans to measure and no matter where I put them within a section (spread out), I get the same value, but the levels vary between cans. Enough to make a difference to have a few dry spots, ...

Re: Extremely dry weather - irrigation plan

My coverage issues is due to the well pump. Obviously by design the pressure swings as the pump kicks on and off based on the pressure switch. I have perfect green 6-8 ft circles around my heads and browning grass in between. Realistically my irrigation is meant to fill in during dry spells but it c...

Re: Extremely dry weather - irrigation plan

Most of my lawn gets full sun all day every day. I’ve brought In compost but heat and no rain for weeks it’s impossible to keep up with a lawn this size and well irrigation. I am in the same boat as you. Most of my lawn looks great, except for the one problem area that is full sun all afternoon, and...

Re: Extremely dry weather - irrigation plan

I’m trying to water enough to keep it at least out of dormancy. It’s pale green Now but dry and a week straight of 90F coming up I need to figure out if less water but more frequent would be better in this hot spell. We usually get about 12 days over the summer above 90F. We are going to get six in ...

Extremely dry weather - irrigation plan

For the last month I have had 1/2 inch of rain. That’s it. Southern NH and we are now in a 7 day stretch of 90 degree weather. I have irrigation but on a well and impossible to make up for a month of no rain as I can’t keep up with watering. Lawn is going brown. Been irrigating 45-60 minutes per zon...

Re: Tenacity for everything?

I got a nasty outbreak of clover that laughed at my "diagnostic dose" of tenacity. I'm on my third app of Trimec® Crabgrass Plus Lawn Weed Killer Concentrate which I got at Tractor Supply for 2.99 a quart. I bought them out. CCO is very effective at killing clover. Use a surfactant/MSO. You can use...

Re: KBG going to seed

I would have dropped the deck to clip off the heads but we have had very little rain for 3.5 weeks with no rain in near term forecast and mid 80s next week. Too risky to lower the HOC right now. It looks terrible. I have the option to water it so I think it will catch up, but I have been watering 1...

Re: KBG going to seed

I caved and mowed one notch lower about 2 1/4"; I probably got 70% of the seed heads, lawn looks so much better. The end of June will be coming fast, I have two make sure I raise the HOC one notch a week at this point. I just gotta force myself to ignore any seed heads hiding lower than the HOC. Th...

Re: KBG going to seed

My lawn looked great but then the seed head bonanza began and we’ve had very dry weather. On a well and got behind on watering due to project and hard to catch up.

These seed heads drive me crazy.

Re: Cut quality & Fungal??? Issues

Currently I’m shopping for a commercial walk behind. I'm looking to upgrade my walk behind as well. Have you found anything interesting? I have an Exmark 30” commercial walk behind that I love. It gives me a better cut than my John Deere lawn tractor. I upgraded to a JDX380 which has the three blad...

Re: Pointless double Pre-M after Tenacity

Have gone through this whole thing with multi seedings and a spring reno the PreM is a must. Tenacity is great at beating back “some” of the weeds from germinating and also allows you to beat back stuff that does pop up especially more mature crabgrass that Quinclorac might not zap. To me, Tenacity ...

Re: Boston Globe Article on PFAS in Bay State Fertilizer

We have people on the site applying pallets of it I would consider that no different than a farmer spreading it over a field. I’m on a well but even if you are on city water the PFAS cAn leach and end up in the water supply. They don’t degrade so repeat apps just means the concentration increases in...
