Re: Improving a TTTF lawn with crabgrass/weeds
I believe Tupersan and Scotts Starter fert. + weed preventer both control crabgrass and would work...? I have used both Tupersan and Scott's with Meso in renos. In my experience the Tupersan product worked better at preventing weeds/crabgrass. I used a Jonathan Green product that was a starter with...

Re: Electric Mowers
I had a Toro electric when In was at my old house. Very small piece of grass 50x30. Took longer to get the extension cord out than to actually cut the grass. It worked fine except for having to manage the cord but that was really no big deal. I always wished I got the battery version though. For a s...

Re: Spring 2016 Renovation
There's been a drought. Rain clouds have been scarce. However, we are expecting rain tonight. Up to an inch. I threw down some milo in the front and back and some Scott's Green up in the front. Hopefully we get a dumping.

Re: Spring 2016 Renovation
That's a great idea. However they just announced a complete ban on outside watering. I'm done for the season.

Re: No let up to heat wave, skip fall fertilizer program?
You are lucky that you could water at all. We have a complete outdoor water use ban. Should I be doing the fall fertilizing, without rain and watering? Same boat here. Total water ban. I was planning on timing a slow release to a predicted rain storm (though I may have to let the system run while I...

Re: Renovations 2016: Challenging Year?
For me It has been very challenging for my Spring Reno. My area has seen record drought conditions. I have lost a number of shrubs and trees as well. Just as I overseeded my reno and seeded the bare spots then the city imposes a water ban. Challenging? I'd say so. Boston having driest summer on reco...

Re: Basic Lawn Care - Cool Season Grass
Last year I had so little clover I just ignored it. It blended in fine. That was a mistake because now the patches are twice as big. I'll spot treat with CCO. When? Will you wait until Fall or can you use CCO now? I hit it last week and will hit it again this weekend. It may lessen the effectivenes...

Re: Basic Lawn Care - Cool Season Grass
My opinion was that if you are providing sufficient irrigation to grow grass the weeds will also be growing. In my back lawn I have very little broadleaf weeds (POA is a different issue). I used the triangle approach to get most of them under control and Dimension as a Pre-em. I get some clover and ...

Re: Spring 2016 Renovation
Reno is coming along. A few bare patches where the sprinklers don't reach. The drought is stressing me out. I had put down some Jonathan Green with Tupersan in April but I am still getting a ton of weeds. I have mowed at least four times so I assumed it was safe to apply Tenacity. I blanket sprayed ...

Re: Push Mowers. Honda vs. everything else
Frankly, I think Toro Super Recyclers (not the cheap Home Depot/Lowes models) are a superior mulch mower. Sent from my iOS device using the Yard Help App I have both a Honda and a Toro. I like how the Toro recycles/mulches a bit better than the Honda. I like the drive system on the Honda better. I ...

Re: What's wrong with my Japanese Maple?
I am rapidly losing two of my baby maples to the drought. They were planted last spring but it has been so dry this year I cant water enough.
