Re: Basic Lawn Care - Cool Season Grass
On the watering frequency; age of the lawn kind of matters. My sisters recent spring reno probably can't survive on 1" once a week this summer. Even my 1 year lawn will struggle in August on just 1" once a week. Also you can't add up 5 days of shallow rain at 0.2" to be the same as 1" of watering n...

Re: Basic Lawn Care - Cool Season Grass
You forgot applying a shot of high N fertilizer once top growth has ceased in late fall/early winter. [ Post made via iPhone ] http://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/images/mobile/iPhone.png Since this is a basic Program I thought that worrying about top growth and the pause may be beyond Lawn Care 101. ...

Re: New Maple Balled and Burlapped Help1
The burlap will rot and the cage will rust away. I worked for a landscape company in WA state as well as a few golf courses. We never removed it just cut it back after placing in the hole. We planted trees in large condo developments, dozens of dogwoods, cherries, maples, and firs. Then did the serv...

Re: New Maple Balled and Burlapped Help1
I have planted dozens and dozens of trees. I have always left the burlap and cage on. I do make sure that the twine and any burlap is not wound around the trunk and I do use cutters to cut back the top section of the metal cage.

Re: Spring 2016 Renovation
Some of the dormant seeds have sprouted and I am getting some green. I filled in the low spots with screened loam and topdressed the rest of the lawn. Just enough to allow the dormant seedlings to poke through. I dropped 80/20 mix of Blueberry and Midnight April 23rd. Used Tupersan as a Pre-em. Have...

Re: Letter to new homeowners
Give them the executive summary...the basics. Then also provide the details below. Whenever someone asks me what to do I ask how much work do you want to do? Then tailor my response appropriately.

I had one with a compressor and it was awesome. Lost it in the divorce...lol. Also had one of the ones that you had to freeze the drum and the one with the compressor was way better.

Re: Time master, Turfmaster, Exmark Metro, Exmark 30?
I had a Timemaster and really liked it...except that it clogged up frequently. Enough to negate any time saved by the time spent scraping the deck.

Dropped Halts without the fertilizer. Started early as hopefully it will prevent some POA. Will drop dimension in 6-8 weeks to continue the barrier.

You could throw some seed down in the spring and use Tupersan as a pre-em.
