Re: Spring 2016 Renovation

I scalped the front and left side bagging up all the dead grass. I used my seed to dormant seed the area knowing I will be adding a thin layer of 50/50 mix in the spring and leveling out a couple of spots. I will reseed the leveled out areas in the spring. I used 60/40 mix of Blueberry and Midnight....

Re: Dimension also for planters / ornamentals?

Back when I worked for True Green they used Casoron. I was in the landscape side not the applicator side.

Re: Spring 2016 Renovation

Any thoughts on dormant seeding? I could throw down some seed now and then topdress in the early spring and use tenacity as a pre-em. I guess my thoughts are it wouldn't hurt and the dead grass would keep it from washing away. At the worst I would be wasting seed. At the best I would get a head star...

Re: Best time to nuke for a spring reno?

I started a spring reno. I nuked in October but the cold really made the round up less effective. I hit it once and got about a 75% kill. I doubled the dose and hit it a second time and I am at 95% kill rate. I might hit the remaining spots again this weekend but I don't know how effective it will b...

Re: Spring 2016 Renovation

Thanks guys. Any thoughts on screened loam only or 50/50 mix of loam and compost? I am worried about weed pressure from that as well.

Spring 2016 Renovation

Well I chickened out of doing a Fall Reno because I didn't want my front lawn to be dead in August. It was hit hard by snow mold this winter and never fully recovered but was still green in the areas that came back. It is TTTF so it never completely filled in. I put down dimension but tried adding t...

Re: Encap Iron

Timmy all good points. I only know what I paid for the Green Max. This is enlightening: "Most significantly, applying bag rate of Milorganite every week for four months (48 36-lb bags of 5-2-0) is a whole lot more nitrogen (and phosphorous and iron) than two bags of Scotts Green Max (2 33.75-lb bags...

I take it that you're looking for a place that sells Bay State locally, or know that a pilgrimage to Quincy only needs an excuse.

I need time and a truck!

Re: Encap Iron

Milo is $13.00 a bag in MA at Home Depot. My lawn takes three bags at bag rate $39.00. Green Max cost $32.00 on Amazon shipped free. One Bag of Green Max covers my yard. The Nitrogen is slow release lasting 6-8 weeks according to Scotts. So the equivalent Milo would be $234 - $312 for 6-8 weeks. Las...

Running you should be ok...digging would disturb the barrier. Don't sweat it the yard was meant to be used enjoy it. If you get a few weeds spot treat or pull them.

Re: Who else is happy and smiling?

4 hours that's crazy! I sold my Timemaster and bought a Honda. It actually takes less time to mow with the Honda because the speed over ground is faster and I don't have to stop to clear the deck. It takes me 45 minutes to mow and an extra 20 minutes to blow the leaves out of the beds and evenly ove...

Re: Encap Iron

I had time constraints this year and could not apply milo weekly. I did apply this twice and liked the results...I applied once late spring and once late Summer. I had some left over Milo for one application and applied that as well separately. The Scotts product definitely greened up my lawn and it...

Re: Overseed Back Lawn

Here's what I did: 8/8 Blanket Apply Tenacity 8/20 Dropped Seed 9/12 Applied Scotts with Meso 10/2 Applied Dimension The POA and Clover did not die but it seemed to hurt the clover more than the POA. It killed the crabgrass on my neighbor's lawn. Hopefully I have a barrier for the fall into winter. ...

Re: What Essential Elements Should Be Applied Prior to Dorma

A soil test just lets you make informed decisions about what to apply and how crazy you want to get. That way you don't waste time or money applying things you don't need.

I didn't do one this year but I wish I had.
