Re: Overseed Back Lawn

So I applied the granular to the overseed 25 days after seed down. I was surprised that I am now getting some whitening of the poa, clover on my lawn, and crabgrass on the edge of my neighbor's lawn. I was putting it down to have a barrier not treat existing weeds.

Re: Overseed Back Lawn

I am hoping the first application of tenacity will suppress germination. My goal is to overseed and create an extended blanket of pre-em coverage for Poa this fall, and lasting until winter. The second application of granular at 30 days is to keep the pre-em blanket going. This would be followed 30 ...

Overseed Back Lawn

8/14 Applied Tenacity blanket spray 4 oz rate
8/17 cut low
8/17 Dropped seed

Weather has been great for grass growing. Cooler and wet.

When I get some germination and about an inch of growth I will apply Scotts Starter with Meso.

After fourth cut will apply Dimension.

Sound good?

Re: Fall Overseed and Pre-emergent Plan

I think I am ok the label says:

"This product applies 0.15 pounds of Mesotrione per acre per application. The maximum application rate of Mesotrione per treatment per year is 0.45lbs"

It looks like I have some room for the multiple apps.

Fall Overseed and Pre-emergent Plan

I plan on overseeding and trying to control Poa. My plan is: 8/8 Blanket Apply Tenacity 8/14 Drop Seed and Apply Scotts with Meso 8/21 Apply Scotts with Meso 9/11 Apply Dimension The only Pre-Em I have used was Dimension in April. It did an amazing job of controlling weeds. I have some clover but I ...

Re: Topsoil depth - will it increase over time? If so, how l

"Even more unpopular, you could cultivate a mix into your existing soil profile." Can you clarify this? The prevailing feelings against cultivating (tilling) in as part of a Reno - involve issues of jacking up soil biology, disturbing weed seeds, having issues with settling over the course of the n...

Re: Golf course after a hailstorm

I would guess topdress and roll.

**Update** From my buddy who was the Head Greenskeeper on a course on Nantucket: "I would roll them a number of times then see what they look like then treat like a post aerification: topdress, drag, and eventually seed."

You can also topdress each year adding a layer of compost which would help build up the topsoil. - While unpopular on this site if you core aerate first some of the compost will work its way into the holes from the cores.

Re: anyone else not mulching as much

Bagged once when it was really high. The new mower has a cool feature that lets you adjust the amount being bagged so you still mulch but will bag some clippings as well. Other than that I need all the OM I can get so I mulch.

poutine is great especially after a day of skiing. I went to school in Vermont and loved the gravy fries at Nectars. They are a rite of passage and amazing at 2:00 am after the bars close.

Re: Timemaster Engine

Pro I had the same issue with the clumping on my fescue KBG mix lawn. It had to be bone dry to not clump. I had to stop and scrape the deck a few times each time I mowed. Interesting that your lawn is fescue and having the same issue. Some of the other guys with Timemasters have KBG lawns and did no...

Re: Water your trees, North Texas

I planted a bunch of new trees. One method I have used it to drill several small holes on the lowest point on the side of a 5 gallon bucket put it next to the trunk and fill it with water. It slowly soaks the tree. It is great for areas where the hose won't reach and you don't have to worry about sh...
