Re: Analyzed my historical data - fine-tuning the "pause" start date
Good Stuff Green... I too find the fall regimen intriguing. I’m glad to see you have quite a few years of data showing the actual first frost as compared to historic first frost. I have seen the same here, but only have 3 years experience. The fall regimen and winterizing is very important to me. I ...

Re: Hammbone81 Soil Test Results - Fall 2019
Regarding micronutrients; I read the FAQ. Since I'll be using 19-19-19, could I dissolve these micronutrient products in water and spray them? Or should I still use Milo for micros, OR should I try to blend them in with the 19-19-19? I blend micronutrients with sulphate of potash with great results...

Re: UREA APPLICATION - CHARLOTTE, NC?
My winterization consists of 2lbs of urea per thousand square feet of grass. Apply, after the grass has completely stopped growing. This application follows the “fall nitrogen regimen” article available below. Read the LateFall/Winterizing section at the bottom of the article. https://aroundtheyard....

Tru-Green Winterizing the Snowy Lawns?
So, we received a couple inches of ‘surprise” snow on the 28th (see pics). Temps been in low 20’s and teens ever since. No melting and more on the way. Unfortunately, I may have missed my winterizing because I doubt I’ll see my grass again till April, total bummer. But apparently snow capped lawns d...

Re: First Frost
My first frost has been 2 weeks beyond average for the last three years. In 2018, I kept up my weekly Urea apps until actual first frost (9 apps). This year I scheduled my seven Urea apps based upon the actual first frost from the previous two years (2 weeks beyond average). Hit it just right, 3 day...

Lowered the deck to its 2” winter height. Dropped the 7th and final fall regimen Urea app. The end is near.

Re: Urea Application
I'm using Urea to wrap up fall fertilization and for winterization this year. I've never used it, so I'd be lying if I said I'm not a little nervous about applying it. How do you guys put this stuff down to avoid over application? This is my third season using Urea. Prior, I had never used it. It’s...

Re: Soundgro Fertilizer a Milorganite Replacement?
My guess is the iron content. Soundgro has 0.55% iron and Milo has 2.5% iron. My lawns high PH needs that chelated iron for greening.

Re: Soundgro Fertilizer a Milorganite Replacement?
Update:
Soundgro did not provide the greening-up of the lawn that Milo provides. I will be using Soundgro (less expensive than Milo) for my trees but not my lawn.

Re: Fall Nitrogen and Organic Lawn Care
Avid123, Yes, fall is the most important time to apply nitrogen. I believe most members of this site use Urea as their go-to nitrogen source in the fall and for winterizing. Attached below is the “fall nitrogen regimen” article and thread. I would start by reading and understanding the theory and ap...

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Thanks Andy...Probably the best piece of advice I’ve gotten was your insistence on paying attention to what’s happening right in front of you. I’m much more in tune to my lawn than I have ever been. Makes it all much easier, and fun.

Re: 2019: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Yesterday, dropped the deck to 3”. Earlier in the week applied fourth dose of “fall regimen” Urea. Avg. first frost is September 11th. It will be late though. Overnight lows in the 40’s for next 10 days. For the last two years first frost has been a couple weeks past average.

Re: Hydrangea Help
Bpgreen,
I understood what you meant about the iron deficiency. I have the same issue with my grass. Plenty of iron but unable to uptake because of the alkalinity of the soil. But the iron in Milorganite works well on the lawn. So I assumed it would have the same effect on the hydrangeas.
