Re: Greenrebellion's Fall 2017 Renovation
I was going to say rabbit. The pic looked familiar, as I have a frequent visitor. He is pretty brazen too. He does it right in front of me. The wife thinks it’s adorable. I’ve held back, because up to this point not a super amount of damage. If this rabbit or rabbits are damaging, you could put liqu...

Re: Help with disease ID
jfoege, those links are great. Thanks! It could be pythium. Consistently warm temps and high RH certainly made it flare up. When I first saw it, I woke up to a London fog. Then the weather changed sharply (thankfully), and it hasn’t reappeared since. This is the last sighting Sunday am, and it was t...

Re: __JT’s__2017 front yard_renovation_
I’m 7 weeks in, 49 days. It was foggy this morning, so I was concerned about this disease doing a flare up, but I didn’t see any mycelium, and haven’t since the first few days. I’m thankful to not see any bad blighting. The nights have been cold in 40s. I’ve identified it as dollar spot, and have co...

Re: __JT’s__2017 front yard_renovation_
Thanks all for the positive feedback! I’ve been concerned about this lawn disease, on edge to see how badly it blights. I checked it out first thing this morning, the most visible time. There were more. I put ~15 flags last night, put down another 5, and could use more, but I’m out. https://s26.post...

Re: __JT’s__2017 front yard_renovation_
Hey DevilDawg81, I was talking to my wife about getting a trap and taking him for a little ride…but I was also thinking liquid fence. I have some on hand, because he was working on some perennials earlier. I guess the new grass is the gourmet stuff. So I was going to pick up on progress from a newly...

Re: Help with disease ID
Thanks All! I appreciate the guidance!
Marinegrunt, sorry to hear that the disease spread like that. Renos are a lot of work, with so many variables. I'll be following your reno. I appreciate trading notes, it’s a huge help.

Help with disease ID
Hmm…3 days of unusually warm and humid weather coincided with my first nitrogen treatment on my reno @33 days old (well fast release nitrogen) and three dewy mornings with fog. And I noticed this today: https://s26.postimg.cc/6xyxh209h/170927a.png Some rust is visible as well, and I have had red thr...

Re: __JT’s__2017 front yard_renovation_
This is week 6, 42 days. Last week, I thought I saw some small patches that looked a bit chlorotic or may be the beginnings of rust, and was considering Serenade weekly, but now things look to be just growing green tissue. May be I’ll hold off on next ap untill things slow down. I’m mowing every fou...

Re: __JT’s__2017 front yard_renovation_
This is after 5 weeks (day 36). As far as coverage, it seems fine. I have 60 x 3” pots, and I’ve been using them in the established lawn. I try to do 4 per day with proplugger. https://s26.postimg.cc/yrvrhoq2d/170919a.png I’m still carefully reeling this in. I’ve been finding some spots that have a ...

Re: __JT’s__2017 front yard_renovation_
Thanks DevilDawg81! I appreciate the encouragement. This year is higher profile, being in the front, where last year was the back yard. And the zoysia was more established in front. This week end (day 33), I dropped the first application of urea, in the form of 10-10-10 @.5N/K. Been into using the i...

Re: __JT’s__2017 front yard_renovation_
Thanks guys! Hey CPascal, At two weeks and two days, parts of it were getting like this: https://s26.postimg.cc/plvvo7ct1/170830a.png https://s26.postimg.cc/burelznv9/170830b.png So, then I cut the front runners down to 2” https://s26.postimg.cc/f45tsgbyt/170831b.png Then every 3-4 four days down to...

Re: __JT’s__2017 front yard_renovation_
I’m at week 4. This 2K side section (half of reno) used to be a mess, a patchy bumpy shaded area with no definition on the wooded edge, and a 30’ scraggly spruce with scoliosis. So, it feels good to make this change, and after three consecutive renos, it's good to no longer have a warm/cool season f...

Re: __JT’s__2017 front yard_renovation_
This is day 25. I’ve been monitoring my grass height, in an effort to insure the bewitched I blended into the shade takes. This is the slower tray of bewitched only. https://s26.postimg.cc/wd7bslyt1/170908a.png This is the faster tray. Both trays treated as extensions of lawn, meaning they were seed...

Re: Leaves on Newly Seeded Lawn
Sometimes I’m surprised to pick up a leaf, and see more green under it, than around it. I guess depends how many…if a leaf here or there is acting like an umbrella, not bad, but if they are glommed together like paper mache, not good.

Re: __JT’s__2017 front yard_renovation_
Here are some pics of week three: https://s26.postimg.cc/3xm47if1x/170904_a.png It’s been mowed twice. The first HOC at 2”, then the second today @ 1.75”. My intent is to gradually level out the mix. I’m still getting green pin dots. The mix is 60-70% kgb. I have the same ratio in 2016 reno, and it ...

Re: __JT’s__2017 front yard_renovation_
As mentioned above, a component of my project is a 1K over-seeded area. A "while your at it" tack on, that's an attempt to thicken up the stand in a shady area. This area was treated with a pgr, HOC brought down to 1.25", and seeded @ 1.3#/K (70%-30% ratio kgb to ff/pr, with 25% of that Bewitched). ...

Re: Lawn reno on a shoestring budget! Please do not flame!
Instead of #3, you could roll it. Both directions. I actually found this to be more tedious then spreading peat. But that’s the way…I roll. For me, spreading the peat wasn’t bad. It was my first time using it, and I spread 5K. I threw ~6’ in front of wheel barrow, ~5’ to the left side, and then woul...
