Re: Fall time pre-m?

When was the last time you applied a PreM? If you have never applied one then it's no time like the present.

Most of us here use Prodiamine or Dimension.

Re: Aerating Newly Laid Bermuda Sod

I agree. It's getting too late in the season for that plus it's still sending out roots to get established. If you only had one of the 2 I wouldn't see any harm but both, I would just wait. Bermuda will grow almost anywhere with enough sun.

Job well done Simon!!! Looks like it just came from the factory. How many mowers/groomers do you have now?

Re: Soap Test Results

I did skim a little so forgive me if its been said already but I think it's a watering issue as the OP said he is putting down 1" a week which could be not enough if the temps are in the 90's everyday. I know it's recommended to put 1" down but that is just a starting point that you can adjust from....

Re: Tru-Cut H20 Repair Question

If it's hard to lock in then you have adjusted the clutch too tight. Something is bent or not adjusted correctly if it's rubbing against the housing. I'm wondering if the correct chain is on there??? It's suppose to be a #40 chain, if it's a bigger(wide) chain it could cause that issue. Just guessin...

No, only one but it has settings for 1-100 and wide open. I can't think of anything I can't spread with that thing.

Re: Push spreader for Top Dressing?

My Spyker spreader would do a good job of it since the gate opens up as large as you need it too. I plan on using it for the same purpose, hopefully next year.

Re: Wheel to wheel?

Maybe I'm just a simple man and I don't understand all this jargon of WTW or STS but to me, as long as you have a decent rotary spreader and you overlap a little bit on your passes you should be fine and have somewhat even distribution of your product and accomplish the task faster too. That's just...

Re: TruCut H20 Chain Issue.

When I had my Trucut, I went to Tractor Supply and bought some bulk #40 chain, chain splitter and some connecting links just to have on hand so that I could always replace a chain if needed. It's a relatively cheap investment and good insurance to have on hand.

Re: Wheel to wheel?

If I used the WTW method, I would be applying way too much product to my lawn and it kind of defeats the purpose of a broadcast spreader to begin with. I have been using STS for the last 10+ years and haven't had one issue with over/under applying anything. Maybe I'm just a simple man and I don't un...

Re: Reel mowers

I agree with the others here that a reel WILL give you a better cut than a rotary any day of the week. While it does require a little more maintenance on your part, I don't think it's a deal breaker at all since the longer you have the reel mower the quicker and better you will get to doing the litt...

If I had the space for one I would definitely consider it. But then again it's something I would only use once a year if that.

I know that this time of year, Bermuda starts to have issues at keeping it cut low so that may too be a contributing factor.

The lowly, decrepit, St. Augustine. I feel for you bro'. Not much talk around here about St. Augustine. Every time a recommendation is made about warm season grasses, I have to double and triple check if my grass is compatible. Sheesh, I'm all alone, when looking for help. So frustrating! Ha,Ha, Ha...

Re: Groomer Guide

One other advantage of having a groomer on the front of your mower is that it will deflect any stones or rocks you might not see while mowing. It does need to be in the reverse rotation mode though.
