Re: Dirt or Sand

I would go with topsoil over sand on a slope like the others have mentioned due to the fact that it is less likely to wash away with heavy rain. I would try to look for a good topsoil that doesn't have a lot of large particles in it. I think the Scott's Lawn Soil it pretty decent for what you want, ...

Re: Dethach or verticut

I would verticut if it was me. The flail blade would get the job done but the fixed blade verticutter should do a better job. Just be ready to remove all the crap that this job will create. I would go in 2 different directions too to help cut all the stolons you can.

+1 Simon!! Very good info you put out there and some things to think about. Bermuda is a different beast when cut ultra low and requires a different approach.

Re: Groomer Guide

You said that you set the groomer at .25 and then at .5 below HOC? So basically soil level? I know the mower rides on top of the grass so your actual HOC will be higher than your bench HOC, so your not actually hitting soil? Just trying to clarify is all :) I have a Baroness with all 3 attachments(g...

Re: Rye Transition via Celsius?

I would start pounding what you have with Nitrogen and water and frequent mowings before you give up the fight and put Rye down. Celsius isn't labeled for that but "might" work in a pinch. No one has tried it yet that has over seeded that I know of. I would think it would definitely give the Bermuda...

I would say go for it and see what you get. You can alway how lower if need be. I can't see how it could hurt except for appearance for a week or two.

Re: Recommend a solution to sharpen blade

I have had mine for about two years and am just now starting to need to change the belts. Some will wear out faster than others due to frequency of use. They make a wide range of belts you can buy that don't come with the kit too.

Re: Recommend a solution to sharpen blade

I use a Work Sharp Tool and Knife sharpener to sharpen the blades on my rotary. It does a really good job and is fairly easy to do since the belt follows the bevel on the blade. It's also great for sharpening any knives you have around the house so it has more than one use. https://smile.amazon.com/...

Re: Union Made American Cars?

I factor in whether I like, I want it and is it worth the price I'm paying. Where it's made or assembled is irrelevant to me. But if it is made in the good ole USA then even better! I will say that I am brand loyal to certain things but if something better comes along I will certainly change. They s...

+1 Ken-n-Nancy!!

You should be fine if you over apply. We had a member here that sprayed 3X the yearly amount once with minimal ill effect, if I remember correctly.

Sounds good to me. It may take more or less than a gallon depending on you and your equipment so keep that in mind. I would do 3 passes and average the 3.

If you don't have a barrier down already then you can spray whenever you want. Be sure to calibrate the sprayer before applying the PreM.

Re: Celsius WG is not killing my spurge weeds

I assume you haven't broadcast sprayed Celsius? I don't hold to the yearly recommendations when spot spraying as you are not covering the whole lawn. That's just me, but you can do what you feel comfortable with.

+1 on Fluid Film!! It's the best spray lubricant I have ever used. They sell it at Autozone, AdvanceAuto and Lowes I think.

Re: Celsius WG is not killing my spurge weeds

I think you will be happier in the long run with a decent 1-2 gallon sprayer anyway as you won't have to keep refilling it to spot spray. I just bought a Solo spray wand at Home Depot I think that you can swap tips out in to use with my sprayer. You can get fan tips at Tractor Supply or any farm sto...

Frustrated Weed Wacker Owner-Any help is appreciated

I have a Stihl line trimmer with the bump head and rarely have any issues with it. As long as you don't wind the line real tight it shouldn't jam on you and the line last awhile too. I've recently gone to a Kawasaki Landscape blade that I made to fit my Stihl Kombi system. A landscape blade is a dre...
