Re: Aerated, seeded, and fertilized. Now What?
1. If cooling down. Depending on temps 5-15 mins 2-4x per day. Keep the soil moist, not saturated. 2. I don't see what you seeded, guessing fescue. Water 2-3 more weeks pending temps and rain. Again, just keep the to most. 3. I'd wait a week on vitamin M, just to stay off the new babies. Milorganit...

Aerated, seeded, and fertilized. Now What?
Hey guys, So Last week, I aerated, seeded, and fertilized the yard with a starter fertilizer. I have been trying to make sure that the soil stays wet by watering about 10-12 min in the morning and evening. The yard is really looking pretty good and has rebounded quite a bit from this summer. Maybe d...

Water Yard Before Seeding??
Hey guys, I am seeding my yard tomorrow with the hogan blend, and just looking for some general advice. Should I water my yard the morning before I seed? If so, just moist or a normal watering? Also is morning a good time to put the seed out when the grass is still wet? Need some quick advice for th...

Re: New Puppy Killing Fescue
Thanks for all the advice guys, I have to come up with something. I know they make tablets that you can give them that remove the nitrogen from their pee. Not sure what to do here..Just sucks to have half the yard dead when I work so hard to keep it green!

New Puppy Killing Fescue
Hey guys, My wife and I just got a puppy about 2 months ago. He is now 4 months old and is killing the grass with his pee. Does anyone have recommendations. It is a golden doodle, and he is extremely high energy. I have tried and tried to train him to pee in the mulch, but he refuses, and now my bac...

Re: New Fescue Sod - What To Do This Fall?
Do you guys think it would be ok to mechanically aerate my yard this fall, even though I just laid down sod in April?

Re: New Fescue Sod - What To Do This Fall?
I always have liked the results I get from mechanical aeration (but have never tried anything else). I feel that it literally "opens up the soil" and does a nice job. I tend to the give bad areas a 2nd or 3rd pass before overseeding. I see that many use the Best Lawn Kelp Help and Best Lawn Soil Co...

Re: New Fescue Sod - What To Do This Fall?
That's going to be your call. Myself and others on this site have had success with the Best Lawn Soil Conditioner and Best Lawn Kelp Help. There are are some great threads debating the pros/cons of mechanical aeration in the forums so you're going to have to make the call of what method you choose....

Re: New Fescue Sod - What To Do This Fall?
Show us photos! You got sod so it might not need to be over seeded, it could be dormant. Most lawns look funky in the summer heat and bounce back in the fall. Keep watering as you are.. If you are really concerned dig a hole and see if the soil is moist or dry. You don't want the grass wet you want...

Suggestions: Decide if you want to overseed. If so, choose a seed blend and purchase your seed Read up on the fall nitrogen regimen thread and if you choose to follow it, figure out how much you'll need and purchase it Attack any weeds you want to get rid of based on the triangle approach article S...

New Fescue Sod - What To Do This Fall?
Hey guys, As many of you already know from various threads on these forums, I recently purchased a new home (my first) in December 2015. As a part of this new construction, they did not put down much seed and told me that the seed they put down "would grow fine through the winter." As Spring came, t...

Re: Leaf Spot
What is the best way to apply Bayer fungicide? Also can you be specific with the exact kind to get from home depot or lowes? My lawn care company sprayed the yard with fungicide last week, but I want to do another application next week. They only come once every 6-7 weeks, and my front yard is basi...

Re: Leaf Spot
I will tell you this. I also have issues with leaf spot in my new fescue sod..pretty disappointing, because it really looks awful. I am having it treated by my lawn company and after one treatment, I can say it looks "slightly" better, but no where near where I want it..I guess it is just a process...

Re: Leaf Spot
Depending on your part of the country it may change. For me in SC, my recommended schedule is may 1, June 1, and July 1 of heritage which is good for 28 days. Each fungicide is different and there is a preventative and curative rate. If you have a small infestation it can probably be cured. If part...
