Re: Sad Looking Yard...

I can't tell on my screen if there's any of the more severe pink snow mold. I see a pink cast, but it may be the lighting. Did you see any pink in person? Here are a couple more pictures. I can't tell if there is a pink cast or not. Now it's covered in snow again... Will it bounce back this spring?...

Sad Looking Yard...

Well after the recent thaw I noticed a very sad looking yard emerged from beneath the snow. What happened to my 2016 reno that was coming in so nicely?? Is this snow mold damage? The only thing that looks like it's thriving is the mystery Triv/Poa... https://s13.postimg.cc/pgyd6edkz/IMG_4259.jpg htt...

Re: Mosquito Joe Alternative

My wife goes inside the minute she spots a mosquito in the evening. Summer is too short to be inside.

Brinly-Hardy Walk Behind Spreader

I'm in the market for a new walk behind broadcast spreader for my 5000 sq lawn to make my milo spreading more enjoyable this summer (currently using Scotts mini). Thinking about this Brinly-Hardy. Seems to be very similar (if not the same) as the popular Earthway spreader but only $126 at Home Depot...

Re: Lithium Ion Sprayer from Sprayers Plus

Very interesting. I'm in the market for a battery operated backpack sprayer so this could be the contender depending on what people think of them.

I don't think this belongs in the Lawn Care Basics 101 forum. The discussion is about professional products.
I'm open to suggestions. Mosquitos seemed like 101 to me but we are talking professional chemicals and equipment.

Re: Mosquito Joe Alternative

Is Talstar what the pros use for mosquito fogging? I was looking at some cheaper foggers on Amazon and I think they recommended something else. Talstar is a professional product however i'm not sure if they use that specifically. When i spoke to a dealer once, he used a mix of nice smelling oils bu...

Re: LED bulbs ready for prime time?

Since you bought them ast Costco, you should be able to get a refund. Costco is well known for standing behind their products.

Yes, I've actually been saving them as they burn out and I'll be returning about 6 in the next week. Gotta love Costco!

A good bulb theoretically should last 22 years, but I think that anything past ten years is gravy.
Yeah, the package says they are supposed to last 13 years (figuring 3 hours of use a day). Unfortunately they are failing in about a year.

Mosquito Joe Alternative

It's never too early to start planning for the coming season! I'm starting to work on my mosquito plan for the year. I have 5000 sq feet on a typical residential lot. My goal however is to be able to sit on my back patio without wearing bug spray and not have to worry about mosquitoes. My wife is a ...

Re: LED bulbs ready for prime time?

I've been buying the Feit 60W equivalent (2700) from Costco for the past 2 years and replaced most in my house. The color is very nice and I like that they use less than 10 watts. Unfortunately many are starting to fail now. They start flickering or glowing dimmer before being fried completely. I do...

Re: Scotts offers spreader replacement parts

And BTW, the Scotts Pro is on Amazon for $61 as of this morning. That's the lowest I have seen it. I'm halfway tempted but since it's about to snow I'll wait. The Scotts Pro is now $46.99 on Amazon with free shipping. I'm tempted. I was going to hold out for an Earthway but you all convinced me tha...

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?

Spring Fever has set in so I put together some new patio lounge furniture, and then promptly stored it in the shed.

I also FINALLY winterized the mower last week. It was nice to hear the sound of it! I put Sea Foam in the tank and ran it dry.

Re: Scotts offers spreader replacement parts

Yeah that all makes sense. I guess I will have to try out the Earthway in person if I can find a local retailer.

And BTW, the Scotts Pro is on Amazon for $61 as of this morning. That's the lowest I have seen it. I'm halfway tempted but since it's about to snow I'll wait.

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

I'm surprised more people aren't posting about putting down a winterizer fertilizer app. Just sayin'.

Today I dumped the soil out of flower pots and stored the pots before the big freeze happens.

Re: Scotts offers spreader replacement parts

Currently I have the Edgeguard Mini (too small for a 5000 sq ft lawn). I'm definitely going to upgrade for next season. I've been looking at Earthway spreaders online but I'm 6'1" so I'm not a "little person". I will say there is something nice about every fertilizer brand putting the Scotts setting...
