Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Fall 2021
Don't worry about lightening. The important thing is that you got the nitrogen down.

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Fall 2021
It was very irresponsible to do yard work in a monsoon wearing only rain jacket and pants without a hat.

Re: Newbie here asking for help
Another alternative is to dormant seed the grass variety that you desire from december 1st onward. Prior to snowfall. It will germinate in early spring. If erosion is a problem use an erosion type mat.

Re: 2021: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Ran my little orbit sled type sprinkler here and there all day long. It does a good job as long as I have good water pressure.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
I'm not sure Andy's Fall Nitrogen Regimen has you dropping urea in Wisconsin October 27th. Have you read page one of this tread? I live aproximately 2.5 hours South of you and my last urea drop should be October 10-15th. The average first frost date for Prarie Du Chien is october 4th.

Re: Babe Ruth Baseball Field. 80K
I got a few compliments last weekend. We are in a serious drought here and I'm noticing that lawns with just a little fertilizer are much greener than the unfertilized. Even this baseball field baking in the sun is slowly coming to life. Today I plan to put compost in the pitcher warm-up areas.

Re: Babe Ruth Baseball Field. 80K
On the pitching area I have applied compost and 1lb of nitrogen. With cooler weather and a little watering it is turning green. I tried putting some stripes on it. This was my first attempt ever at striping. I should get the soil sample test back this week. The outfield has gotten 1lb of N so far. N...

Re: DevilDawg81’s New Lawn - Fall 2021
I'm really glad I did my reno last year. This September we got 4 inches on September 4th and a half inch since. Many days have been around 90 as well.

Re: Triclopyr and Young Trees
The diluted turf Triclopyr mix seems to have little effect on the young weed trees in my yard perimeter. I routinely spray them.

Lesco 18-24-12. You haven't provided us with any information to answer your question. We don't know about current fertility levels or previous applications regarding nitrogen. We don't have any information regarding your soil levels or needs for potassium and phosphorus. The lesco could be ideal or ...

If you have access to bulk compost from your city it is probably much less expensive than peat moss.

Unless you are cutting through dead turf, I can't see the need to power seed.

I vote D, neither a power rake or a power seeder. Save the $100, hand rake the thatch and sow the seed on the dirt, cover with peat moss or compost. If you have hollows, depressions or holes, fill them in with top soil and drag with a simple homemade or borrowed drag.

Re: Babe Ruth Baseball Field. 80K
I put two yards of compost down today in the pitching area. Then I overseeded with rye/kbg mix and dragged it. Ninety degrees, it hasn't rained for two weeks and none is forecast. I'm hoping to put compost on the rest of the infield later this week. I'm waiting on the soil test as well. I went aroun...

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
I bought some urea last week for $20, I think that is the same it was last year. I have twice applied Milorganite and once urea to my front 8k. That's small enough I can water it. It has been in the 90's here and no rain for almost two weeks, none on the forecast either. I'm glad last year was my re...

Re: Babe Ruth Baseball Field. 80K
I worked about eight hours on the field today. We got a sports field mix from C.D. Ford of lesser known bluegrass, 20% perennial rye, and 20% creeping fescue (totally unnecessary). I'm planning on using the seed bank aproach and put it down weekly or after the field gets tore up. I put some down tod...

Morpheus, Your's has razer blades, doesn't it? I have a friend that sharpens the blades for $5. I'm pretty happy with that.
