Re: Bentgrass Greens
I feel like compaction isn't an issue with us, but I'm not a golf course expert by any means. As hot as our summers get, we're constantly having to water them to keep them alive which makes them extremely soft and receptive. I could see the need for multiple aerations if the greens were firm.

Re: Bentgrass Greens
Yeah, they're nice in early spring/late fall when bermuda is/going dormant but they're a pain in the heat of the summer.

Bentgrass Greens
I have a question and maybe someone in here can give me an answer. We have bentgrass greens at our golf course here in NC (Bermuda would obviously be better but it is what it is) and our superintendent aerated and verticut them in April. Has anyone ever heard of verticutting bentgrass? I've only eve...

https://i.postimg.cc/5jmvZGWJ/Front-Yard.jpg Here's an aerial view of what I'm currently working with. I removed a river birch where the red circle is in the pic about 2 months ago because it was completely shading out the right side of my yard (as you can tell). The maple tree in the pic is gettin...

ECUPirate 2020 Reno
Welp, there's no turning back now. I sprayed glyphosate on my centipede/weed mixture of a front yard tonight and plan on dethatching and seeding La Prima bermuda in the next 7 to 10 days (I have the seed on hand already). I have roughly 5,000 sf I'm working on for this reno and I don't have a sprink...

Re: June 1st: Initial Roll Call for the Renovation Class of 2020
Not sure if this is for warm season peeps or not but I'm doing a 2020 spring/summer reno of my front yard this year. I'll be transforming my yard from a centipede/weed mixture to hopefully a beautiful and lush bermuda yard.

Re: Bermuda height
As low as possible, without scalping. If your lawn isn't level and is bumpy, it's going to be difficult to get down to 1" and less.

Re: ECUPirate Soil Test
Since Phosphorus, Potassium are both low, we might as well get a balanced fertilizer like 10-10-10 or 19-19-19 -- which brings the Nitrogen along for the ride in one application. Get one and post the NPK for application rate and frequency. Don't apply the fertilizer within a couple of weeks of the ...

Re: ECUPirate Soil Test
Andy, what are your thoughts on using dolomitic lime in lieu of calcitic lime with epsom salts?

Re: ECUPirate Soil Test
I didn't compare the ingredients before asking that question :banghead: , which I'll work on for future questions. I ordered the Anderson's Humic DG today and it should be here by Saturday. :good: Also, if you don't mind me asking, what's the epsom salt for? Is it due to the magnesium deficiency or ...

Re: ECUPirate Soil Test
Thanks, Andy! Yeah, we'll go for the micros this year as well. As far as "steady heat", what do you consider those temps to be? 90+ consistently? Looks like I have a few more weeks before we get too hot, as the temps for the next 2 weeks are in the 70s and 80s. Also, what's your thoughts on Anderson...

Re: ECUPirate Soil Test
First soil test in our new house and it looks ugly. Current yard is a mixture of centipede and weeds and while I know this soil is best suited for centipede, I'm getting ready to seed Bermuda in a few weeks. From my previous experience with low pH and Bermuda, I know calcitic lime and I are going to...

PGF Complete Fertilizer
Has anyone used the fertilizer called PGF Complete? I've been watching some YouTube videos lately and one guy pushes this fertilizer quite a bit and claims it's the best fertilizer on the market. Wanted to see if anyone has used it to verify before purchasing it.

Re: Leveling sand
I've always heard that play sand and mason sand is the best for leveling, but to also mix it with soil. If you put down just sand the sand will get hot and dry your grass out quicker. I don't think I would use the river sand, unless it's been screened to remove rocks and pebbles.
