Re: Concerning?

Right on. Let us know how things play out. I haven't noticed any real thinning/death from drought stress, the grass has bounced back every year. But in addition to the disappointment of seeing a nice spring lawn tank year after year, it's worrisome that these weak spots can be portals for disease......

Re: Concerning?

This might not be applicable, but i thought since we're situated so close; The recent temperature spike snuck up on some spots in my usual trouble area: The most compacted area of the lawn (way more foot traffic over years) that also happens to get the most sun. I just noticed the issue yesterday. N...

I've certainly spent my share of time reading and re-reading your posts and articles. I feel like I should owe you money.

Great seeing you around, man!
Stay safe.

Re: Experience with lillies?

Thanks, Timmy. I'll be very happy when i can adopt that attitude. It'll probably be easier to shrug off once I get a wider assortment of things established. Yeah, more variables should help...hehe

Re: Experience with lillies?

I decided to remove 3 infected leaves from one lilly and 2 from another. I got nice clean cuts. Hopefully this will reduce spread. Also pulled back some mulch to help things dry out more. Totally forgot about Serenade... Sprayed them all with 2 ounces. Also realized I have a bag of hydrated lime fro...

Re: Experience with lillies?

Could only find copper soap so I had to order the sulfate.
I might test some neem oil on those few leafs tonight; was gonna do the roses anyway, something thinks they taste good.

Gonna do 1-1/4 tsp neem oil to 25 oz water.

Re: Experience with lillies?

Seems pretty likely. Thanks, man. At least it doesn't sound like the end of the world if so. I guess the cool nights we're still having won't help much, but at least humidity is supposed to drop off for a spell. This morning I noticed a spot forming on another lilly. Must be earlier stage. It's just...

Re: 2020: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

I really wanted to wait it out on principle, but it's practically June. Game over. ;) Cool to understand why the top growth halted. I should have guessed it. Thanks. I did actually tap a couple with triclopyr just to see, when I was hitting the clover. Could see the damage in days. And I must have t...

Re: Experience with lillies?

5 weeks ago they were just poking out of the soil, now the tallest is at 44". Hit a snag though; I'm sure I over watered last week. The soil is very moist. My lilac got wilty for a bit too, but it bounced back quickly. I pulled the mulch out around the bases of the lillies. I'm seeing some symptoms ...

Re: 2020: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

5th mow. Still 3.5" HoC. Grew about 2-1/2" the past 6 days.
Tiny maples dodged another bullet. Suckers won't grow like normal. Don't know why.
Pulled every one of them.

Applied 1/2 dose of BSF w/ Epsom, and 3lbs of iron.
Put down about 1/4" peat moss.

Re: Dargin's 2019 Soil Test

Wish I had a good answer for you but I'm not working on this lawn anymore. Too many issues with the owners. They just don't understand HoC and irrigation. While I was there I didn't see the typical boost I get from BSF. There was slow growth but the majority of the lawn looked haggard; possibly some...

Re: 2020: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

Spot treated some poa annua and nimblewill with tenacity at around 6oz/A rate. Hit about a dozen small clover patches with triclopyr, along with some smartweed from last year's bonanza.Temps jumping the next two days, but the lawn just got a good watering so i dont expect too much stress. Used glyph...

A little extra dose of BLSC before doing my first weekly watering.
Maples dodged four mows, but their days are numbered.

Re: Please help! Fungus / leaf spot??

Resist the urge to chop the grass if you get tired of looking at the fungus while things play out. The fungus will still be there and have less leaf and stem to work with before potentially spreading to the crowns. Warmer temps coming too.

Just saying, I know a guy who did that once...
