Re: Struggling to control fungus
Good point. I sharpened the blade pretty darn good before that mow too; do it every 2-3 mows. But yeah, I see what you're seeing. Im not rushing the mowing either, slow and steady. Seems there's always some raggedy ends, but overall I'm getting a much better cut than in the past. I think I gotta pic...

Re: Experience with lillies?
Cool. Thanks! Read up a bit more as well. Into the fall I'll have a dig and see if I can divide and transplant a few bulbs/bulblets to spread things out. I think they'd look nicer if they took up a wider space. Hopefully the bees will enjoy them, too. It's looking kinda desolate for them so far.

Experience with lillies?
A previous tenant must have planted these maybe 5 years back. The photo is terrible but it's the only one I have; had to crop it. https://i.postimg.cc/0rbz6fVm/20200516-114022.jpg I think it's some type of asiatic hybrid lilly? It has never grown over 4' tall. They're coming up very beefy this year,...

2nd app of Prodiamine.
Think I'll finally knock out all the tiny maples at 3" on the next mow.

Re: Struggling to control fungus
Right on. After last Summer I thought for sure I'd need to come out swinging this spring. Had very little confidence the lawn could bounce back like it has from the condition it was in. I was expecting to see significant thinning and maybe even a period of melting out after overwintering. Counting m...

Re: Struggling to control fungus
I never got a sample to Rutgers. Within a couple weeks of the original post there wasn't anything I could find to send off. My plan is to continue at least weekly 4oz serenade apps. If I see the fungus again Rutgers will be my Plan A. I can see now that left spot isn't just one thing. From what I've...

No expert here, but my best guess is speedwell; maybe corn speedwell? I saw a bunch of this come up in a lawn last spring. I used Triclopyr to wipe it out.

Re: Upping my OM: cornmeal and peat moss
Over my head here, but been doing some reading.
Would some sort of analysis of isolated polysaccharides possibly give an indication of the mass of the microherd vs TEC solids? Based on the ratios of varying types of amino acids, monosaccharides, etc... found.
Way off?

Re: Dargin's 2019 Soil Test
After my last visit to this lawn I've been doing some thinking on this soil that has lead me to speculate. This lawn just received its first slow release nitrogen for the year. I'm still waiting to see the response. I noticed the lawn woke slower than surrounding lawns by almost 2 weeks, although it...

Re: 2020: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
First nitrogen on a couple friends lawns. Along with epsom, micros, calcitic lime, KH, and iron. About 6k sqft total. Small 800 sqft backyard reno for relative. Tenacity. Soil moist seed coat. No starter. Just SoP. Rolled it in nice. Ran out of peat so back tomorrow. 6 hrs. Back and hamstrings are t...

Re: Upping my OM: cornmeal and peat moss
Thanks for chiming in guys, always enjoy your insight. I actually went with corn meal, and the 10lb/k rate after reading some of your posts, Dchall. Totally fine admitting that i may not have exactly the right idea, but my intention was -pretty much- in line with what Andy said. The corn meal was ch...

Re: Zebra Stripes
PSU4ME's advice is spot on. I've also heard of granules potentially getting caught in the inner side of the wheel, where they can collect and then be dispersed in concentrated lines/stripes as you go. Maybe check for accumulation there next time. https://i.postimg.cc/LnYh0MYc/20200502-104534.jpg

Re: Dargin - Humate Recommendation
Thanks for your advice, Andy. Well, if I know my maths that translates to business as usual as far as KH is concerned. I barely get through 2oz of the humic acid extract annually (~1/2 gallon of KH), and that's being a bit heavy handed...glug, glug... Please never feel compelled to respond to my que...

Re: Dargin - Humate Recommendation
I was just wondering if you had any thoughts on whether it would still be beneficial to apply KH as usual once the Anderson's is in play? Should we cut the humic and just apply the kelp?
Sorry if you already addressed this. I couldn't find it.
Thanks.

Anytime I think about the sandy soils I deal with, the concept of "holding power" is always at the forefront. Exciting stuff here!

Dargin - Humate Recommendation

Hey, Andy. I'd like to hear your recommendation for my uncle's lawn, if possible. It's a sloped sand trap with inadequate irrigation; Summer is very rough. Seems like a perfect candidate.
Thanks, man.
