Uncle Steve’s soil

Post by Brian M » November 19th, 2021, 5:25 pm

Hello all. I am helping my uncle with his lawn next year. So I decided to get his soil tested first. I would like help with a macro nutrient guide for 2022.

He lives in Hawthorne NY, zip is 10594 zone 7a.
Approx 3000sqft lawn made up of dozens of different types of big box store seed he has spread over the years. Mostly fescues I’d imagine.
Soil appears ok to me, not compacted as per the screwdriver test.
He has irrigation
He’s ok setting a reasonable budget

He had a nasty grub problem that knocked out quite a large section of the lawn. I overseeded late sept this year and did not have great results. Came in thin and patchy.

Thanks for all the help you guys do. You are an asset to the lawn community

Brian

Read the post on submitting a soil test first. Only tests from Logan labs are interpreted here. I also think they're done with soil tests for the year, but I'll let one of the experts confirm or deny that.

Yes it is Logan labs. Doesn’t look like the link showed up. If we’re done for the season then that’s ok

Yes, we're done for the season. There is no harm in waiting for us to start again in February, 2022 - the soil will not change in any material way before then. We're not going anywhere...
