New Home - Logan Labs Soil Test Results...please help
Hello,
I recently purchased a home in SW Connecticut. The house was on the market for a few seasons and unfortunately, some sections of the lawn were destroyed by grubs last summer, coupled with the drought we experienced.
A few weeks ago, I removed the damaged lawn with a dethatcher and plan to reseed with a nice blend of TTTF from The Hogan Company after speaking with Bob. Also, I'm planning on laying down GrubEx during our next period of precipitation.
My goal this Spring is to reseed where there was lawn damage and in the fall detach any remaining dead sections of lawn and reseed again.
Below are my test results:
Sample Depth in inches: 6
Total Exchange Capacity (M. E.): 3.76
pH of Soil Sample: 5.7
Organic Matter, Percent: 7.50
SULFUR: p.p.m.: 17
Mehlich III Phosphorous: 459
CALCIUM:
Desired Value: 1022
Value Found: 758
Deficit:-264
MAGNESIUM:
Desired Value: 200
Value Found: 121
Deficit: -79
POTASSIUM:
Desired Value: 200
Value Found: 164
Deficit: -76
SODIUM:
lbs / acre: 34
Calcium (60 to 70%): 50.42
Magnesium (10 to 20%): 13.41
Potassium (2 to 5%): 4.23
Sodium (.5 to 3%): 1.95
Other Bases (Variable): 6.00
Exchangable Hydrogen (10 to 15%): 24.00
Boron (p.p.m.): 0.29
Iron (p.p.m.): 310
Manganese (p.p.m.): 1
Copper (p.p.m.): 0.98
Zinc (p.p.m.): 0.91
Aluminum (p.p.m.): 1833
Thank you!

Re: New Home - Logan Labs Soil Test Results...please help
That's a very sandy soil with a very high OM number - an unusual combination. I'd like to see if that repeats next year.
In the cations, all are short - and that brings us to the end result of the pH of 5.7. That requires work, but isn't horrible. Calcitic Lime (Encap/Mag-I-Cal/SoluCal) at the heavy rate on the bag, mixed with 2 lbs/K of Epsom Salts should be applied every 90 days. Additionally, you'll need to locate Sulfate of Potash (SOP, 0-0-50) and apply that at 2 lbs/K monthly until September.
The Iron levels are excellent and available at your pH.
The Nitrogen source is up to you, unless you specify that you require help there...
All of the micronutrients are short. Do you want to deal with them in 2017?

Thank you Andy! I will apply what you outlined and revisit the micronutrients next spring.
Thanks again!
