Just got my Logan Lab results in the other day, and hoping the experts on these forums can help me amend my soil. My yard is just under 6,000 sqft and I have been mulch mowing the yard for the last seven years. I have been following many of the practices preached on this site (organic fertilizing, BL Soil Conditioner, and Milorganite when possible). My goal is to do a lawn renovation of KBG in the front yard next year, and I want to make as many improvements as I can. Thanks for helping me out.

That's a sandy soil that is pretty close to entering Loam territory. The OM number is flat-out great.

In the cations, the Calcium is pretty short and the Potassium a little short. The Magnesium is a tad high. This leads to a pH that's a somewhat acidic 6.0. For the Calcium, apply good calcitic lime at 10 lbs/K, every 90 days of the growing season.

For the Potassium and (also short) Phosphorus, get a balanced fertilizer like 10-10-10 or 19-19-19. Once you've chosen it, post the NPK for the application rate and frequency. This will also cover the Nitrogen need.

The Iron is a little short, but within spitting distance of OK. A little Milorganite might be able to close that gap in a year or so.

In the micro’s, it’s only Boron. Get Twenty Mule Team Laundry Soap from the grocery and apply it at three tablespoons/K every 60 days. Read the Micronutrient Application Guide for application specifics.

I already dropped the calcitic lime and the boron with milorganite. Should I continue putting these down through next year as well? I was confused when you said growing season, since growing season will be over in 90 days.

Yup, when the grass stops growing (maybe 6 weeks from now in your area) stop the apps.

10-10-10 goes down at 10 lbs/K, but the last number in NPK is Potassium, which we don't recommend in the late season - there is some evidence that it causes an increase in Snow Mold. Read the Fall Nitrogen Regimens and consider that for what's left of the season. Use the 10-10-10 in the Spring and Summer.
