Soil Selection for leveling / low spots
Hi All,
Gearing up for an overseed soon. Thinking would also combine that with addressing some leveling issues and low spots. Most of yard is extremely bumpy. I'm 1 to 2 years out from a reno on the front yard, but figured getting some leveling done now only gets me ahead of the game.
one of the soil suppliers offers the following 3 options:
• Screened topsoil
• Blend of 50% topsoil / 50% mushroom soil
• Garden mix 40% topsoil / 40% compost / 20% sand
While my primary focus is leveling, also thinking adding some OM always help, but would choices 2 or 3 make sense or do they have too low a percentage of topsoil?
Looking to get about 5 yards
appreciate the input!

Mushroom Compost is not recommended when used at seeding or on very young grass - it is "hot" (contains salts that have a high potential to burn) and can burn sensitive plants and young grasses.

I'd go with screened topsoil for now. Make sure you use tenacity and get a real.pre emergent down asap when you renovate as it will be loaded with who knows what weeds.
If you want to go for pool table level later on, then go for a sand based finish later.

5 yards of topsoil on the way. I have a fun weekend ahead of me now
tenacity will go down for sure. i cringe at what I could be bringing in!
