Dan's 2019 Soil test
Posting my logan labs results for this year
last years results are located here:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=24355&p=326778#p326778
I'm wondering if there is a sampling error on my part since there is a significant change in the TEC. not sure if that is possible in a year. The other areas though seem to have moved in the direction we were working towards.
the actions I took as a result of last years test include:
9/2/2018 Milorganite-bag rate
9/3/2018 Sta-Green Gypsum/Calcium-heavy bag rate
9/16/2018 Ferrous Sulphate- 3lbs / 1k
10/25/2018 UREA .25 lbs N /1k
11/23/2018 UREA winter app 2 pounds urea / 1k
3/29/2019 Pre-emergent (0-0-7) .15 dimension / 3.5 pounds/1k
4/6/2019 Sta-Green Gypsum/Calcium - heavy bag rate
5/2/2019 Ferrous Sulphate 3lbs / 1k
5/11/2019 Milorganite 20lbs/k of 6-4-0 / significant rain afterwards (loss?)
6/8/2019 Milorganite 6.6lbs/k of 6-4-0
6/22/2019 Milorganite 13.3lbs/k of 6-4-0
here are the current results:

Re: Dan's 2019 Soil test
You mentioned last year that your lawn care company was applying Holganix 4X a year - are they still doing that? Any chance that an application of Holganix was made close to the soil test sampling? Is the lawn care company applying anything beyond Holganix?

Hi Andy - no, I stopped them after last year's soil test and went with your plan instead. The last holganix app they would have done would have been about a month prior to the 2018 test on july 26, 2018.

Re: Dan's 2019 Soil test
Hmmm...
Could it be sampling errors? Sure - but which one had the sampling error? Or was it both - the 2018 might have been low and the 2019 might be high. We'll only know for sure when next year's soil test lines up with either the 2018 or 2019 test.
To my eyes, what I see is what I would expect with a significant number of Calcitic Lime applications - a rise in pH, a rise in Calcium, and a drop in Magnesium and/or a drop in Potassium (due to displacement). But that isn't the signature of Gypsum - there wouldn't be a rise in pH typically. And even then, 950 lbs/acre of Calcium doesn't just show up one day. And Sulfur is up - which indicates that Gypsum and Ferrous Sulfate were applied, probably.
So, we work with what we see in front of us, with a bias toward caution since we don't know which set of numbers are incorrect.
Put a hold on the Gypsum applications - we don't need to add any more Calcium until we get some stable trend showing up.
If true, the TEC is great, and the OM% is both stable and excellent.
The Iron is rising nicely - keep it up!
In the micro's, only Boron is short. Get Twenty Mule Team laundry soap and apply it at 3 tablespoons/K, every 60 days as outlined in the Micronutrient Application Guide (in the FAQ area.
Nitrogen is up to you, unless you ask for that as part of the plan.

Re: Dan's 2019 Soil test
Hi Andy,
that sounds like a good plan! I have one more milo app planned this year for labor day, so the boron can go with that. I grabbed an extra bag of Ferrous sulfate last year in Lancaster, so I have that ready to go.
appreciate the help and input!
