CPascal 2020 Soil Test

Below is my 2020 soil test from Logan Labs. For the second year in a row I winterized my lawn with urea in the late Fall. This year however I've noticed that my back lawn is slow to wake up (have not mowed it once so far this spring) in contrast to other areas around the house that need to be mowed multiple times per week. Potassium and Magnesium appear to be low again and wonder if that's playing a role.

Thanks again for all your help.

The soil is a little on the heavy side at 12+, and the OM is excellent. You're good to go there.

In the cations, Magnesium and Potassium are short. If using Milorganite, you can add 1-2 lbs/K of Epsom Salts every 90 days. Don't do that with fertilizer. For Potassium, apply 2 lbs/K of Sulfate of Potash (0-0-50, "SOP" and not easy to find) every month until September.

Phosphorus is plentiful.

Iron is good.

In the micro's, only Boron is short. Is it on the table for 2020?

Easy plan this year, eh? Kick butt!!!

(I'm feeling guilty about writing so, little, but you're getting close...)

Thanks, Andy. Just placed an order of SOP. Do I need to worry about Boron this year?

It would be a good idea - you're less than half of what I recommend for soils like yours. Get a box of Twenty Mule Team laundry soap, and add 3 tablespoons/K every 60 days, as outlined in the Micronutrient Application Guide.

Just a note of clarification: is applying Epsom salts and urea on the same day a no no?

The literature I have read says that Magnesium does not volatilize the Urea.
