This was sent to me by my son (BLUEHANDMATT here). I do ***NOT*** think it is the best way to get your soil test samples.
(1) It is difficult to find the 3"-4" soil.
(2) It disturbs the soil (a bit more than a little)
(3) It may bring weed seeds to the surface
(4) There are 1,000 other reasons, but it didn't stop this idiot.

Wow. Does seem like a low-labor sort of way to loosen up the soil, though.
