nanometer's 2021 Soil Test

Post by nanometer » April 5th, 2021, 1:52 pm

I just got my soil test result this year. Last year followed Andy's suggestion, I applied:

1. Mix 9 lbs/K of the Calcitic Lime with 2 lbs/K of Epsom Salts, every 90 days
2. SOP at 2 lbs/K monthly, monthly
3. Twenty Mule Team laundry soap, 3 tablespoons/K, every 60 days

In this year's test, I wonder to know is there any different of 2 sides of my backyard, so I spited into 2 samples, looks no big difference. Could you please help on this year's report? Thank you very much!

The Front is different from the Back, but the two Back tests don't show much difference.

Front

(1) TEC is nice, and OM is good.
(2) Repeat last year's program.
(3) Iron is plentiful.
(4) Nitrogen is up to you, unless you want advice.

Back

(1) Same program as Front, but far more urgent

The Back Yard is far more urgent because it triggered an Alarm. You have very high Aluminum numbers at a very low pH. This is a recipe for the Aluminum to be at/near causing root damage to the grass (and potentially other plants). If you can, make the Lime/Epsom applications every 60 days in the Back.

Thank you Andy! I will start the program this week. Last year I also applied Urea at 2 lbs / K, sometimes Milorganite. This year I can continue to apply this level of Nitrogen.

A little questions: Lime/Epsom is every 90/60 days for front/back, is this just in growing season, or the whole year including winter? SOP is for growing season, is it just including Spring and Fall?

Lime/Epsom can be applied in any non-freezing months.
