Re: BD13 soil test 2021
Well, look at that!!! You had a 5.69% Sodium level. We knocked that down to 2.63% with Gypsum. Side effect? The pH dropped to 6.6. Go figure - just like in the textbook. We'll take it.
The soil is very, very sandy, and the OM% of 3.89% (almost to the Good, but not great category). It will be like pouring water into a sieve for your fertilizer until you get that TEC up.
In the cations, I'd like two more treatments with fast-acting Gypsum, 60 days apart. Then I won't have o guess at the real pH and we can get the cations straightened out.
Since the Phosphorus and Potassium are both low, I'd like to see you use a balanced fertilizer (like 10-10-10 or 19-19-19) in April, May, June and September. Choose one and post the NPK numbers for rates,
Iron levels are great, and now it's available.
In the micro's, Boron and Zinc are low. Do you want to deal with fixing them this year?

Thanks Andy, I will apply the gypsum this week and again in June.
Also 10-10-10 is easier to find so I will use that for fertilizer. I will give the micros a shot this year at your advise.
This fall should I still use urea for the fall feedings? Thanks again.

10 lbs/K is the application rate. Also 10-10-10 is easier to find so I will use that for fertilizer.
Get Twenty Mule Team laundry soap from the grocery and Zinc Sulfate from EBay or Amazon. 3 tablespoon each per 1000 sq ft, every 60 days, as outlined in the Micronutrient Application Guide.I will give the micros a shot this year at your advise.
Hell Yes. You can stop when you're dead. This fall should I still use urea for the fall feedings?

Re: BD13 soil test 2021
Hi Andy,l have question about the application of 10-10-10 in June.
It has been hot and dry should I still do the application
Or should I wait. I do have irrigation and would disease be a concern. Thank you.

Your call - you're on-scene and we're not. With irrigation, it should not be an issue in June in the Northeast.

I see what Andy's doing here and don't think I want to interrupt the process. I'm going to let Andy answer this one.

Hi Morph, I’m sure Andy is busy I have a question.
I have humid dg on hand and we are forecasted to a decent amount of rain next
week would you recommend an application or should I just wait.
Thank you.

I'd say go ahead. And if Andy doesn't come back online shortly, I'm going to go ahead and read your test.

Re: BD13 soil test 2021
Can do. I'm detecting some potential sampling issues here, so for next year's test, be very careful to take more samples and assure that you take them from the correct depths and mix them well. It's also possible you have two different soils on your property, in which case it's also possible that you should be sending two different tests off. These numbers bounced around a bit.
We're going to continue with the 10-10-10 in May, June, September, and October this year, because phosphorus and potassium are still short (this will be a recurring theme). Zinc came up, so discontinue that.
Boron fell off a cliff. That happens. Boron is water-soluble, about as soluble as nitrogen, which washes out easily particularly in sandier soils. Even I'm always adding it to my soils and I have silt. 4 tablespoons 20 Mule Team Borax per 1000 sq ft, every 60 days, as outlined in the Micronutrient Application Guide--a step up from last year's three, and again, no zinc this year.

Should I spread some soybean meal to bring up the organic matter?

Re: BD13 soil test 2021
That's absolutely on the table, along with corn meal, cracked corn, alfalfa meal, spent brewer's grains, Milorganite, and so on.
The months of May, August, September, and October are perfect for that. And as far as the grains go, amounts can range from 10 pounds (alfalfa; it stinks if you use too much ) to 15 pounds (soy) to 60 pounds (corn, brewer's grains) per thousand square feet. Like anything else, avoid June and July as the lawn really doesn't need feeding during those months.
