Gregt848 2022 soil test. Year 2!

Post by gregt848 » May 23rd, 2022, 1:01 pm

Good afternoon!

A little late this year but got my soil test results today. This is the second year for testing the soil at this house. Not too much has changed from last year, I followed morph and Andy’s recommendations to a T.
I am very curious to see what has changed from the last year and if the soil looks any better.

Below is this years test and I’ll also put a link to last years test and thread!
Thanks again for all you do for our lawns!
Greg

Well, that improved nicely from last year. Your pH stayed the same because the calcium rose a lot, magnesium dropped some, and potassium remained the same. pH is not a significant factor (mine balances rather low), but I find it mildly amusing.

Phosphorus showed a slight drop, but it wasn't in horrible shape in the first place (and perks down slowly, so the stuff you added last year is still working its way down). Overall, we're going to play a partial game of Stay the Course, but I'm going to work the liming and fertilizer applications a little differently. So carbon copy what you had last year.

I'm not in love with your boron or copper levels, but I'm letting them ride this year. Grasses aren't going to complain too terribly much and we have bigger fish to fry.

Recommendations:

Late May: Feed with 10-10-10.

Early June: Apply 9 pounds of calcitic lime per thousand square feet.

Mid-June: Apply half rate or so of 10-10-10

September 1: Feed with 10-10-10

September 10-15: Apply 9 pounds of calcitic lime per thousand square feet.

October 1: Feed with 10-10-10

Great! Thanks Morph. I’m happy to see it moving in the right direction. I’ll follow your plan and retest next year!
Thanks again
