Chris T 2024 Soil Test

Post by ChrisT03 » February 27th, 2024, 2:02 pm

My lawn is look better year after year! Thank you so much for the help! I cut my lawn around every 5 days at around 3 inches and last year and I’m still bagging due to a never-ending red thread problem. I did not do any dethatch or aeration this year. My lawn is about 3000 sq ft. I followed the suggested program last year adding boron micro application 2x and sulfate of potash at suggested times and rates. I have underground sprinklers and I water 2x per week for 1 hour.
I’ve attached both my 2023 and 2024 Logan labs reports.

Thanks for adding it to the queue, I failed to notice this.

(glares at soil) This Disappoints Me. But it's the way sandy soils go. They require frequent taps.

So...

Recommendations:

April: Apply 2 pounds per thousand calcitic lime.

Memorial Day: Feed with balanced (20-20-20 or the like) fertilizer at bag rate. Following the Micronutrient App Guide, apply 5 tablespoons per thousand square feet of 20 Mule Team Borax.

Labor Day: Feed with balanced (20-20-20 or the like) fertilizer at bag rate. Following the Micronutrient App Guide, apply 5 tablespoons per thousand square feet of 20 Mule Team Borax.

September 15: Apply 2 pounds per thousand calcitic lime.

October 1: Feed with balanced (20-20-20 or the like) fertilizer at bag rate. Following the Micronutrient App Guide, apply 5 tablespoons per thousand square feet of 20 Mule Team Borax.

October 15: Apply around 2 pounds of calcitic lime per thousand.

November 1, or growth stoppage: Feed with any high-nitrogen fertilizer (low everything else).

Thank you so much!

Can you recommend any specific brand of Calcite lime?

Also, I noticed my potassium if very low again as well. Is this due to the decrease in ph?

I'm not ignoring you, I'm just busy. :-) Really, any calcitic. Fast is going to be a flash in the pan. So $15 a bag fast lime will work quickly, but wash out faster, too. Slow will hang around a little longer (the $7 a bag stuff).

Maybe a mix of both? If so, triple the amounts for slow as it's going to work over a period of some years.
