Seed down. All rolled in. My back aches bad. After an extended break I'll apply the Starter with Tenacity and start the top dressing process. Andy is right. Renovations are a lot of work. I guess I forgot how hard they actually are. Forget the beer at this point, I would prefer a Vicodin :banghead:

Andy is right. Renovations are a lot of work.
I think I'm almost recovered from the 2013 Blueberry Renovation (2013). I know I'm recovered when my brain starts to allow the thought "what should I renovate next?" to not be instantly purged.

You disappointed me. I had this mental picture of you out there planting "Midnight" at midnight tonight, with a flashlight duct-taped onto the drop spreader...

So you got yours down again today? Good luck this time and keep a couple tarps handy! I'm watering in the Starter with Tenacity then I top dress. I don't know if my back will allow me to roll again. Maybe tomorrow?

What could you possibly have to renovate unless you want to go to a blend? Of course a new cultivar that scores a perfect 9 in color, 9 in shade, 9 in turf quality could hit the market and you'd be forced to renovate again. I still have some of my backyard to convert to 100% KBG if I get motivated enough. Not saying I will but you never know.

High was right around 70 today so i took advantage of the nice weather and got it done. I wouldnt worry about rolling again...im sure you'll be fine. I hate to say it but i thought the seed and roll was the easy part...the topdressing is what kicked my a$$.

Take it easy out there...lots of breaks

An Unobtanium monostand.

I'm topdressing now. I'm filthy. I take plenty of breaks. I'm trying to go with 1/8 inch deep of peat moss. What depth did you shoot for?

I just tried to get everything covered. I doubt i had it even 1/8". I just over three 3 cu ft bales for 1800 sq ft if that helps. I used compost today and found it easier to spread than peat. I never did figure out a good method for spreading peat ...scoop with hands and fling it was the best i came up with.

Congrats on the seed drop.

See the following for a definition of unobtainium: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unobtainium

I think a minor typo led you on a wild goose chase. I usually see it spelled Unobtainium.

My guess is that the "Emblem" monostand is the one in question...

It wasn't a typo -- I prefer the alternate spelling which is like Titanium.

How many bales did you end up manning up to today?

That is a recognized alternate spelling and is a little more creative!
andy10917 wrote:In my opinion, Tenacity is w-a-y better than nothing, but is a so-so Pre-M. As a post-emergent, nothing touches it for effectiveness if you have a solid regimen.
Are there any recommendations for a better pre-M that is safe to use with seed-down in the fall? Siduron?

Congrats! I'm really looking forward to seeing how this renovation turns out, particularly for the shady sections. Hearing about KBG in moderate shade makes me wonder if a side lawn renovation to a shade-tolerant KBG is in my future...

Actually I already have KBG growing in the shade. Bewitched does well and the Brilliant I have (which they no longer sell) is phenomenal in shade. Are the areas you thinking of renovating in total shade or do they get some sun. For the most part you need some sun though my Brilliant KBG grows great with dappled sunlight only.
