This will be your worst enemy. Pay very close attention to when the lawn starts looking dry and water that night. I syringed the lawn in the peak heat last year and it helped. Whats your fugicide rotation looking like? I think you already put down heritage if I am not mistaken (soil already at 65 degrees)?

Yeah, I had to nurse my tttf through the summer as well. I would often syringe in the afternoon, having an irrigation system now will help with that.Othertime wrote:This will be your worst enemy. I put down Armada on Sunday and watered it in. Will be using heritage df mostly, also have eagle and cleary's to rotate. I am also looking into adding companion. I will do everything at any cost I can to get through this summer.

I love your "please keep off grass" dog sign. If I was walking a dog I might purposely let him walk on your yard after reading that.. Just kidding. I feel like some dog owners purposely walk their dogs on the other side of the street after they have seen all the work I've done to the lawn.. not sure if it is out of respect, or they think I'm doing something extremely toxic since the lawn is so dark. Btw, that lawn is looking really good. can't wait for mine to take off like that

I've lived here long enough that most people know I am the crazy lawn guy. Most read and smile.Pete1313 wrote:I love your "please keep off grass" dog sign. Rain, rain and more rain. We are stuck in a wet pattern, has been raining all week. My only concern is getting out and mowing. I will have a small window of no rain today and until tomorrow at noon. Looks like I'll be mowing wet tall grass, ouch on the 1/3 rule.

Yeah, this. I forced the issue a bit and mowed yesterday evening even though it was still pretty damp. It had been 6 days of growth, and I was regularly mowing every 3rd day so it was getting a bit out of hand. Fortunately I've been maintaining it on the next-to-highest setting, so I bumped it up to the highest and it took off close enough to 1/3.nclawnguy wrote:Rain, rain and more rain. Lawn reno pics 4/17 - I know I just posted pics last week, I just friggin love my new kbg lawn, if it makes it through the summer, I will wonder why I didn't do it sooner. Mowed today after 5 days of rain, lawn was high and wet, but my toro super recycler cut and mulched it like nothing. Really a great mower if anyone is interested. Color is a bit darker in person, but it is lighter than usual due to all the rain and overcast weather this week.

Absolutely beautiful! Really enjoyed reading your reno and wanted to say congrats! I'd be in heaven if my reno turns out like that! What's the height of the KBG in these pics?

Looking fine!
Have you had to explain what the heck kinda grass you're growing to your neighbors yet or did you take care of that last fall?

Thanks, it really has been fun for me. From the moment I joined this site, I wanted to chronicle a renovation. Glad I got the chance to do it.stephensilva1 wrote:Absolutely beautiful! I'm mowing at 2.25" right now, probably going to stay there for as long as possible.

Told most that cared last fall. Honestly pictures on my phone do not do it justice, so much nicer than my tttf I had previously. I can't get over how soft it is to walk on compared to tttf, the wife even noticed that. Now my backyard tttf looks blotchy from all the overseeding with different cultivars...backyard reno 2015? Maybe.HoosierLawnGnome wrote:Looking fine!
