Well, I'm starting to think about dormant seeding once the snow melts off. We're in the middle of a pretty hard freeze right now.

Went out to the property yesterday, and I still have a good bit of slushy snow on the ground. The deep woods are much coooler than you think!

So, no dormant seeding yet - hopefully this weekend....

FINALLY got seed down - way later than I hoped, but just fine really.

I applied 3 lbs of dutch white clover seed (which is, ironically - red) - by hand over the awful, rocky subsoil. Things are blooming - some bulbs came in along the road.

Oh, and my friends and I did some shooting.

No, this isn't me - but it is my rifle....

I keep a small clover field at my place. Mowed at about 5.5". Always made me wonder what a lower mowed cool season clover lawn would look like.

I have a small field at my place I maintain as clover. Always made me curious what a cool season clover lawn would look like.

Nice! I'd be REALLY happy if my clover lawn came in that well. How often do you mow it?

I also bought some wildflowers I may throw out where it's the sunniest along the road.

I want the deer to love coming around - especially in late November :D :D :D

Mowed about five or six times a spring at about 5-6". Doesn't fair to well with our summers. Once established I think you will be surprised at how aggressive it can be. As far as deer well, I don't now it in the fall............

Sorry, bro - haven't been down there since I seeded. Major project requiring extra time. Soon ,though - soon. I'm expecting lots of clover and bees when I show up.

I wish I lived in the US where I could shoot anywhere with my AR and have a can on it and be able to get 10-10-10 fert for $0.68/kg instead of $7/kg. But then I'd miss my free healthcare. lol Nice rifle. Can we make a firearms sub forum here on ATY so we can discuss HLG's AR build?

I just told my neighbor about planting clover in his backyard where his dog pees. Now I'm worried that it might invade my lawn if he ever does it. How aggressive is it?

Haha. :) Thanks for the compliments :)

My, how things have changed in your neighbors to the south. Not too long ago, you'd have been trust-busted for trying to control entire markets. Now we elect politicians to do it. Oh well - I guess I need to go back to my high school economics teacher and tell him he was wrong for teaching me that "there's no free lunch".

But hey - I believe in countries' sovereign right to choose their own way.... even if I don't agree with it...

Not horribly aggressive, and readily managed by Ortho Weed-B-Gon Chickweed, Clover, and Oxalis Killer for Lawns, which has Triclopyr as the active ingredient. Then again, maybe you can't get that in Canada?

I have found that just a typical generic multi-chemical 'broad leaf' weed killer was able to subdue clover growth and even kill it many cases at my old house (over the course of a few sprays throughout year). I would just do a little over spray in neighbors yard to help keep it at bay. If you can get the CCO product K&N listed...then no problem at all!

Shouldn't be to bad for ya. Assuming you can get some type of herbicide.

Actually, I was able to kill clover in my lawn with multiple apps of Killex (2,4 D). I'm still trying to research if I can find CCO here. We have 'Weed b Gone' but its a totally different product here. Its a lame version of Killex because Liberal Ontario banned Killex there..

You can also look for poison ivy killer. A lot of times it has triclopyr

Be careful when using the Poison Ivy Killer as a replacement for CCO -- it's the same exact AI and percentage, but the dilution instructions on the Poison Ivy Killer are 2X stronger. Always use the CCO instructions when using it on the lawn - the other instructions are too strong.
